Dorit Kemsley learned she was wrong to assume that The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast would “lend some type of support” after news that she and PK Kemsley had separated.
“Naïvely, I actually thought going into the group, because so many women in the group had had this experience, that I would be around support,” Dorit, 48, admitted during The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: After Show on Tuesday, November 19. “Oh boy, was I wrong.”
According to costar Erika Jayne, “no one had reached out” to Dorit from the Bravo show’s cast. (Dorit and PK posted a joint statement via social media in May announcing their separation after nine years together.)
“Kyle did eventually end up reaching out by text,” Dorit admitted. “Would you believe that was actually more than 90 percent of the ladies did.”
Kyle Richards explained her side of the story during the aftershow — noting that she was “scared” of sending a message thinking it would be perceived as “manipulative” since their friendship is on the rocks.
“I wrote a text to both of them, and I was in a total panic about what to do,” Kyle, 55, explained, noting that she called Erika. “Nobody had reached out to her, and it really broke my heart. … Once I knew that I was like I don’t care what she thinks. I’m sending it.”
Dorit noted that “lack of compassion” for her separation came from the “same ladies” who didn’t reach out after her 2021 home invasion.
Newcomer Bozoma Saint John, however, has become a new source of comfort for Dorit.
“If you could understand why, it meant so much to me, that first time ever meeting you,” Dorit said to Bozoma on the aftershow “You lent more support to me in one of the hardest times in my life in that hour than the women combined that I had known.”
RHOBH viewers watched Dorit meet Bozoma, 47, during the season 14 premiere on Tuesday. It appeared that they became fast friends — which Dorit confirmed to Luxury Handbag Shopping exclusively earlier this month.
“She’s real. She’s not trying too hard and she’s cool. I’m really pleased I bonded with her instantaneously,” Dorit gushed while promoting her Words With Friends partnership. “Funny enough, the one that had known me the least was the most there for me. It’s crazy.”
She said that their friendship has since extended “beyond the show.” Dorit added: “I think she embodies everything that a Housewife should, but more.”
