Christina Haack’s breakup from Josh Hall is front-and-center in her new HGTV series, The Flip Off.
In a clip shared with People on Thursday, December 12, Christina, 41, told her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa that she and then-husband Josh Hall had just “officially split up.”
“We had a blow-up [with] middle fingers in my face,” Christina tearfully recalled. “Things with Josh have been bad for a long time.”
Christina and Josh, 43, both filed for divorce in July after nearly three years of marriage. At the time, Christina and Tarek’s two children — Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9 — could tell that their mom wasn’t happy.
“The kids literally asked me to leave,” Christina claimed. “They told me he’s not nice to me. Why would I stick around? I feel like I’m in a tornado all the time and I just can’t get out of it.”
According to Christina, “everything since, like, 2016 has been so hard and so horrible.”
“It’s really taken a really bad toll on me,” she added, wiping away tears.
Christina and Tarek’s own marriage ended in 2016. In the years since, she moved on with Ant Anstead and welcomed their 3-year-old son, Hudson. After their 2020 split, they were locked in a messy custody battle. (She and Anstead, 45, now split custody of the toddler.)
Christina moved on with Josh, all while she and Tarek, 43, continued to share the screen on Flip or Flop. The show came to a close in 2022 after 10 seasons.
“I’m really sorry for s— too. I really am,” Christina further told Tarek in the Flip-Off clip. “I just want you to know.”
Tarek had his ex’s back.
“I understand that feeling of being a little bit lost,” he said. “And I acknowledge that I’m a big part, if not the entire part, of all of this.”
On The Flip-Off, Tarek and Christina will design competing home renovations in each episode. Tarek will be joined by his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, while Christina was set to film with Josh in a couple-versus-couple showdown. The former police officer was cut from production amid his divorce from Christina.
“I never, ever in my life thought this show would happen,” Tarek exclusively told Luxury Handbag Shopping in October. “Sometimes I’m sitting there and I’ll have a moment where I look over at Heather, my wife, and I look over to the other side, and there’s my ex-wife, Christina. And I wonder, ‘How did I get here?’”
The Flip Off premieres on HGTV in January 2025.
