ESPN’s Chris “Mad Dog” Russo is the latest to weigh in on the Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson age-gap relationship — and in typical Mad Dog fashion, he does not mince words.
The longtime sports talk host took to his own Mad Dog Sports Radio on Wednesday, April 30, to call their romance “a dog show.” Russo, 65, compared Hudson, 24, to his daughter, Kiera.
“I’ve said this a thousand times, I’m gonna say it again,” he started. “If Kiera Russo — and she’s the same age — if she came home, ‘Dad, can we go out to dinner with my new boyfriend?’”
He then launched into a scenario where Kiera would insist on the family getting the early bird special, which he would agree to.
“And then she comes home, she gets out of the door, and the boyfriend is 10 years older than me! I’d say, ‘Honey, what are you doing here?’” Russo continued.
He also pointed out that Belichick, 73, would never approve of his players bringing their girlfriend to practice, even as he has kept Hudson close while reporting for duty as the new head football coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels.
“Here’s another thing: Do you think there is any shape, way, or form that Bill would allow a coach or a player or his mentor, [Bill] Parcells, to wear high heels running through a football practice?” Russo asked. “Can you see Bill Parcells allowing his assistant coach or a player to go to the conclusion of a practice at MetLife with his young girlfriend, who’s wearing heels? Are you kidding me? Bill would go crazy.”
Russo also touched on the awkward interview Belichick did on CBS Sunday Mornings over the weekend, in which Hudson intervened and seemingly shut down questions about how the couple met.
Belichick has since released a statement saying the interview was supposed to focus on his book, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football.” CBS countered with a statement of its own, insisting the interview was supposed to be “wide-ranging” with “no preconditions or limitations to this conversation.”
“I mean, my goodness gracious,” Russo said. “And her scenario there last week with, ‘We’re not going there,’ and the idea, I guess, she kept CBS waiting for 30 minutes — that was a complete disaster. I mean, this girlfriend of his, I mean, I’m sorry. She’s a young kid. She’s 24 years of age. She knows nothing about the media spotlight, especially the sports media spotlight. And it looks like she’s got Bill twirled around his finger. Let’s call it like we see it. This is a dog show. That’s what it looks like to me!”
