Amazon Prime Video remains one of the best platforms to turn to for the best of streaming TV in April 2026.

From crime dramas to comedies, adult animation, sci-fi action and psychological thrillers, Prime Video’s original content ranks among the highest quality.

This month, Watch With Us has updated our list of the top shows you can find on Prime Video with two stellar additions.

Our first pick is Invincible, the fantastic adult animated superhero show that just debuted its fourth season.

We also highlight House of David, a riveting biblical historical drama.

Half-alien teen Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) is set to follow in the footsteps of his superhero father, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). In his final year of high school, Mark finds his powers coming into their own at the same time that he struggles to juggle his studies and social life with burgeoning superhero duties. However, Mark ends up becoming aware of a dangerous conspiracy that involves his father, who has been misleading the entire planet about his supposedly benevolent intentions.

Based on the Image Comics comic book series of the same name, Invincible offers a refreshing, subversive take on the superhero genre while being a beautifully crafted animated series for mature audiences. The series centers on a more philosophical take on standard superhero stories and, at the same time, gives rich, compelling character arcs and genuinely brutal action sequences. It all comes together to create a series that isn’t just a great superhero show, but a great character drama period.

This historical biblical drama series is set in the Middle East in 1000 BC, and the premise initially follows David (Michael Iskander), a shepherd in Bethlehem. David is anointed by the prophet Samuel (Stephen Lang) to be the successor to King Saul (Ali Suliman), who has fallen victim to his own pride and mental degradation. However, on David’s journey to his rightful ownership of the throne, he encounters several challenging obstacles and tribulations that test his faith and relationships, leading to his ultimate fight with the giant Goliath.

You don’t need to be a Bible scholar to enjoy the mesmerising drama and action of House of David. The series skillfully blends biblically accurate storytelling with some genuinely riveting creative licenses. The high-quality production design, realistic fight sequences and strong character development help to elevate the show from being seen as just some forgettable faith-based drama. House of David is a great show for viewers who are interested in either action and adventure or spiritual depth, or both.

In Washington, D.C., Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge) is a loving father in addition to being a decorated homicide detective and forensic psychologist. Cross gets inside the minds of criminals, going to any length to understand how they think and bring them to justice. However, he also wrestles with anger issues over unresolved trauma from the death of his wife. Just as Cross is pondering a break from his job, he gets involved in a case surrounding the murder of a local social justice activist.

If you’re not a fan of crime procedurals, you might not get much out of Crossbut for those of you who find these kinds of stories to be your bread and butter, you’ll get a lot out of it. Cross isn’t bringing a whole lot new to the table, but what it brings is an engaging take on familiar territory, indulging in crime show clichés in the best way. Hodge gives a charismatic performance, making for what is the best interpretation of James Patterson‘s classic character. With a bump in acclaim following its second season, Cross makes its mark as a provocative thriller with high-stakes drama.

Jury Duty boasts an unconventional premise: it chronicles the inner workings of the American jury system by focusing on a juror named Ronald Gladden, but the entire trial is staged. Everyone in the trial, from the audience to the fellow jurors (who include James Marsden) to the judge, is an actor, and only Gladden — a solar contractor from San Diego — is unaware of this. While pre-planned, Jury Duty is heavily improvised, leading to plenty of hilarious scenarios as Gladden is only ever charmingly honest and earnest.

Marsden’s performance as a parody of himself is more than worthy of its multiple award nominations, and Gladden ends up the surprise breakout star of a show he didn’t even know he was on. Though a “prank show,” Gladden’s ignorance is never made to be the butt of the joke, and Jury Duty shines in its warm, light-hearted humor. This makes for extremely entertaining television, with high unpredictability that keeps you guessing. A second season, Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat, is now streaming.

A typical workday for Zara (Sophie Turner) at the Lochmill Capital pension management company is turned on its head when armed thieves arrive to execute a heist. The thieves give their list of demands to Zara and her coworker and best friend, Luke (Archie Madekwe), and the result is $4 billion in missing pension funds. Thus enters Detective Inspector Rhys (Jacob Fortune-Lloyd), who races to figure out why and how this massive con upended the entire British financial ecosystem.

Steal manages to start with a bang and maintain that momentum for the ensuing five episodes, in this perfectly-paced, totally thrilling crime drama. Turner shines in her lead role, and it’s refreshing to see the young actor’s prowess extended beyond the world of Westeros. Overall, Steal is an excellent binge-watch that offers more than enough twists and turns to satisfy cravings.

When the son (Laurie Davidson) of wealthy art gallerist Laura (Robin Wright) brings home his new girlfriend, real estate agent Cherry (Olivia Cooke), Laura becomes convinced that Cherry is a manipulative social climber. After a first meeting marked by perceived inconsistencies in Cherry’s backstory, Laura becomes wary of her motivations towards dating Daniel. Ultimately, Laura’s life begins to unravel as she questions whether her motherly instincts are real, or just paranoia.

Exploring themes of greed, love and obsession, The Girlfriend is a twisty psychological thriller with enough entertaining soap to distract from the story’s own inconsistencies — in fact, it’s the implausibility of everything that makes the show just so irresistible. Ultimately, Cooke and Wright make for a fantastic, dueling pair in this true emotional rollercoaster that is more fun than it is cerebral.

Former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) works as a humble night manager at a luxury hotel in Cairo. He is soon plunged into the world of espionage when he is contacted to spy on Richard Roeper (Hugh Laurie) — an international businessman suspected of allying with the intelligence community and illegal arms traders. Pine infiltrates Roper’s inner circle while maintaining his hotel job, but things become complicated when he falls for Roper’s girlfriend (Elizabeth Debicki).

Based on John le Carré’s novel of the same name, The Night Manager is back for a second season on Amazon Prime Video with a decade separating it from the first season. Fans will be pleased to know that season 2 will feature the returns of Hiddleston and Olivia Colman, while including some new supporting players like Camila Morrone and Diego Calva. If season 2 is of the same caliber as season 1, we couldn’t be more excited. The series was highly praised for its great lead performances, quality writing and riveting story.

Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) is on the cusp of turning sixteen when she travels with her mother and brother to the beachfront town where they’ve spent countless summers alongside the Fisher family. However, Belly begins to experience the newfound pains of adolescence, as she navigates self-discovery, first love and burgeoning independence. Ultimately, Belly finds herself caught in a love triangle between the two Fisher brothers (Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno) as she straddles childhood and adulthood.

While viewers were heartbroken to learn that 2025’s third season of The Summer I Turned Pretty was set to be the show’s last, they were assured that it was a voluntary decision by the filmmakers, since the show successfully adapted all three novels from Jenny Han’s trilogy. However, fans rejoiced upon the announcement of The Summer I Turned Pretty Movie movie, which will serve as an expansion of the story. The show was favored by audiences and critics for its charming, tender coming-of-age narrative and terrific acting, making it a must-watch rom-com show.

200 years after the Great War, America is a post-apocalyptic wasteland where humans mostly live in underground bunkers called “vaults” to keep safe from the various aboveground threats like mutants and radiation. However, the bunkers are secretly part of a massive series of experiments. Living in this dangerous world is Lucy (Ella Purnell), who decides to search for her father, leaving the safety of her vault behind.

The critically acclaimed show just returned for a second season, with Lucy on a different quest. Fallout was praised for being faithful to the games, along with being well-crafted in its own right. In addition to Purnell, the cast includes Kyle MacLachlan, Walton Goggins, Aaron Moten and Moisés Arias.

Adam (Jack Whitehall) is a tutor who becomes a male nanny for the wealthy Tanner family. The Tanners are an eclectic bunch, led by businessman Jamie (David Duchovny), husband to wife Nat (Carice Van Houten) and father of two boys. As Adam ingratiates himself with Tanners, it quickly becomes clear he’s done so for underhanded purposes. Adam is intent on getting revenge on the Tanners, and you’ll have to watch the whole thing to find out why.

Malice plays off the recent success of movies like Saltburn and shows like Ripley and The White Lotus, capitalizing on an “eat the rich” sentiment that pays off in dividends here. A gorgeous tropical locale, a well-written script, a truly hateable family and an anti-hero you root for all make Malice supremely watchable.

King & Conqueror depicts a dramatized version of events surrounding the Duke of Normandy (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Hardola Godwinson of Wessex (James Norton), leading up to the Norman Conquest of England. Though the two men are allies at first, they eventually begin a bitter battle for the British thrones.

While the series received a bit of criticism for some generous creative liberties taken, that’s all part of the fun. Characters in medieval-era England say anachronistic swears and phrases, and the show features some welcome colorblind casting. Plus, there’s a bit of saucy bromance between William and Harold, and what would a great period drama be without that sort of thing?

[12 of 15]

Forensic psychologist Joel “Laz” Lazarus (Sam Claflin) returns to his hometown following the recent suicide of his estranged psychiatrist father, Dr. Lazarus (Bill Nighy). Believing that his father would never have committed suicide, Laz begins investigating and uncovers a series of cold case files that not only may be connected to his father’s death, but also the death of his sister twenty-five years prior. All the while, Laz experiences strange visions.

Lazarus’ twisty, contrasting timelines add a richness and complexity to the narrative and its characters, as well as helping to muddy reality versus delusion. Fans loved this Harlan Coben crime drama for its twisty, absorbing plotting, strong lead performance from Claflin and surprisingly deft exploration of family trauma.

The Mighty Nein is based on the second campaign of the popular Dungeons & Dragons web series, Critical Role. This might sound too niche, but the show manages to succeed as a terrific adult animated fantasy show for a wider audience. The Might Nein is set in the fantasy world of Exandria, as we follow a ragtag team of outcasts and fugitives. Together, this group has to save the realm from the power of a dark and ancient relic.

Although you might need to get acquainted with the preceding show, The Legend of Vox, to enjoy The Might Nein, that’s not a bad thing. The fantastic animation style, compelling story and emotional character drama of both shows are great to dig into for fans of fantasy, animation, Dungeons & Dragons and Critical Role.

At the 10-year reunion for their all-girls high school, Zoe Miller (Emily Browning), Amelia Collins (Megan Smart) and Saskia Van Der Beek (Caitlin Stasey) are caught in an apocalyptic tidal wave. Stranded on the isolated island peak where their grade school campus resides, the girls must figure out a way to survive while navigating unearthed teenage drama.

Raunchy, funny and a love letter to female friendship, Class of ’07 was praised as a winning examination of womanhood that is as biting as it is entertaining. The show’s cast was highlighted as particularly charming, and while it gets off to a slow start, Class of ’07 becomes more rewarding the longer you stick with it.

Detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q) takes charge of the brand-new cold case unit of the Robbery-Homicide Division in the LAPD. Underfunded and staffed primarily by volunteers, Ballard and her team take up decades-old unsolved cases. However, as Ballard reopens these cases on an episode-to-episode basis, she uncovers a pattern of corruption that leads straight to the heart of her police department.

Maggie Q shines in her leading turn as Detective Ballard in this crime procedural spin-off of Bosch. Ballard has been hailed by critics as a sharp, well-paced thriller with genuinely compelling cases and great performances that also manages to have something to say about systemic failures of policing.
