Sometimes, timing is everything for the major streamers like Max.

HBO and Max couldn’t have predicted that a Spaceballs 2 announcement would arrive this month, but it has, and it’s already propelled the original Spaceballs into the top 10 movies on the streamer just a few weeks after its arrival.

That’s not the only comedy option on Max this month. The Hangover is also on the streamer, although its two sequels are curiously absent.

There are just two films that the Watch With Us team has picked for the must-see comedy movies on HBO and Max. And you can catch all of them below.

After a wild bachelor party, groomsmen Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) are missing a few things: A borrowed vintage Mercedes, the groom, Doug (Justin Bartha), and the last 12 hours of their lives.

That’s the setup for The Hangover, as this trio tries to piece together the events of the wild night before. Somehow, they got entangled with Mike Tyson, a Bengal tiger and a Chinese gangster named Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong). And if they can’t find Doug, then there isn’t going to be a wedding.

Some Mel Brooks fans look down on Spaceballs as one of the director’s lesser movies. But nearly four decades later, it’s still one of the best Star Wars spoofs we’ve ever seen. Bill Pullman stars as Lone Starr, with John Candy as his best pal, Barf. To get out from under a large debt, this unlikely duo agrees to rescue Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) and her android companion, Dot Matrix (Joan Rivers), from the evil Spaceballs.

Rick Moranis has a hysterical performance as Dark Helmet, the dorkiest version of Darth Vader you can imagine. Dark Helmet and the other Spaceballs are trying to kidnap Vespa so they can steal all of the air from her planet. But the Spaceballs’ biggest enemy isn’t Lone Starr, it’s their own complete ineptitude.

Notting Hill follows Will Thacker (Hugh Grant), an ordinary guy who runs a bookstore in London. After a bad divorce, it feels like Will has won the lottery in life when a beautiful woman named Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) unexpectedly enters his shop. Anna is everything that Will could ever dream about in a romantic partner. There are just two problems: She already has a boyfriend, and she’s one of the most famous actresses in the world.

The second part of that is the biggest obstacle standing in the way of Will and Anna finding happiness together. How can he compete when Anna can have any man she wants? The intense glare of the media may also keep these two lovers from truly being together despite their best intentions.

Watching Pretty Woman serves as a reminder of why Julia Roberts was a rom-com queen in the ‘90s. She’s so charming and charismatic that it’s easy to accept her character, Vivian Ward, as a prostitute with a heart of gold.

Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) is so taken by Vivian that he hires her to be his escort for the week and shows her the high life. They have a lot of fun together, but this fantasy they’ve created can’t last forever. Or can it? A pre-Seinfeld Jason Alexander appears as Edward’s lawyer, Philip Stuckey, and Hector Elizondo nearly steals the show as a friendly hotel manager.

Who needs a fancy DeLorean when you’ve got a Hot Tub Time Machine? The hot tub may be more comfortable, but at least the DeLorean could go back to the present at will. Adam Yates (John Cusack), Lou Dorchen (Rob Corddry), Nick Webber-Agnew (Craig Robinson) and Adam’s nephew, Jacob Yates (Clark Duke), weren’t trying to use the hot tub for anything other than its intended purpose. But they still found themselves transported back in time to the ‘80s.

For Adam and his friends, it’s a chance to relive the vacation they took as children and prevent themselves from making the same mistakes. The trip will prove to be revelatory for Jacob as well, assuming they can figure out how to get back home.
