Never underestimate Peacock.

This streamer may not have all of the advantages of its bigger rivals, but the NBC-owned streamer occasionally has a really killer lineup.

That’s especially true in this week’s picks for the three underrated Peacock movies to watch this weekend.

Your best bets this week are the remake of a cinema classic, one of the best thrillers of 2025,  and a film where Jim Carrey gets to do what he does best.

‘King Kong’ (2005)

There’s a majestic quality in the 2005 remake of King Kong that none of the modern Kong movies have been able to recapture. This was a dream project for director Peter Jackson following his Lord of the Rings trilogy. The story largely stays true to the 1933 film, but Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) has a genuine connection with the beast this time.

Ann is a struggling actress who is roped into going on a risky voyage to Skull Island by director Carl Denham (Jack Black). Screenwriter Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody) isn’t going on the journey by choice, but he and Ann quickly form a romance. Once they arrive on the island, all bets are off. And while Ann has a calming effect on King Kong, he and everything else on Skull Island are incredibly deadly.

‘Drop’ (2025)

Dating is all about putting yourself out there to meet another person. But Violet Gates (Meghann Fahy) didn’t ask for all of the baggage that comes with her date in Drop. Weeks of online flirting have brought Violet together with Henry Campbell (Brandon Sklenar). There’s even real chemistry between them at the start.

However, someone sends Violet several increasingly disturbing messages on her phone throughout the date. The mystery man also has a demand. If Violet doesn’t murder Henry, then her sister, Jen (Violett Beane), and Violet’s son, Toby (Jacob Robinson), will both be killed.

‘Liar, Liar’ (1997)

Jim Carrey was still at the peak of his comedic prowess when he starred in Liar, Liar. This flick also set the tone for a lot of Carrey’s films for years afterwards. Carrey plays Fletcher Reede, an extremely talented lawyer who has no qualms about dropping whoopers in his personal and professional life. His lying gets so out of hand that Fletcher’s son, Max (Justin Cooper), makes a birthday wish for Fletcher to go one day without lying.

Suddenly, Fletcher finds himself unable to bend the truth while arguing one of the biggest divorce cases of his career. Carrey’s physical comedy is truly hysterical as Fletcher tries to will his way through a very difficult day. It’s just a really funny movie, with a bit of heart as well.
