The end of the month is coming up fast, and HBO Max subscribers are running out of time to catch some of their departing favorites.

HBO Max doesn’t directly list the films that are on the way out, which is why it’s necessary to look elsewhere for that info.

To make things easy for you, the Watch With Us team has narrowed down your best options to the three must-watch HBO Max movies leaving in September.

Our picks include a fan-favorite comic book flick, a timeless romance and an all-time great sci-fi film from the ’80s.

‘Scott Pilgrim vs. The World’ (2010)

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is so infused with video game sounds and imagery that you’d never know it was a graphic novel-inspired movie unless someone told you. Although the film didn’t break out in theaters, director Edgar Wright‘s adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley‘s story has become a cult classic.

Michael Cera stars as Scott Pilgrim, a Canadian slacker who falls hard for Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), an enigmatic delivery woman. To be with Ramona, Scott has to face each of her seven evil exes in video game-inspired boss battles, including Lucas Lee (Chris Evans), Todd Ingram (Brandon Routh), Roxy Richter (Mae Whitman) and the ultimate bad guy himself, Gideon “G-Man” Graves (Jason Schwartzman).

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is streaming on HBO Max until September 30.

‘Water for Elephants’ (2011)

Water for Elephants is a period romantic drama that takes place in the 1930s. The story follows Jacob Jankowski (Robert Pattinson), a young man who literally runs away with the circus to escape the heartache of losing his family to an accident. Jacob’s talent as a veterinarian helps him earn a place in the circus, where he meets one of the performers, Marlena Rosenbluth (Reese Witherspoon).

Marlena is married to the circus’ owner, August Rosenbluth (Christoph Waltz), an abusive man who emotionally and physically mistreats her. She and Jacob feel drawn together, and they bond while caring for and training the circus’ new elephant, Rosie. But if their emerging love is going to survive, they need to find a way out of August’s grasp.

Water for Elephants is streaming on HBO Max until September 30.

‘The Terminator’ (1984)

Even for its time, The Terminator‘s $6.4 million budget was small for such an epic sci-fi concept. Director and writer James Cameron made the most out of it and cemented his place in the industry with this enduring hit. Arnold Schwarzenegger had his most menacing turn to date as the title character, a T-800 android who was sent back from the future to kill a woman named Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton).

In the present, Sarah is just a waitress who has no idea why the T-800 is trying to kill her. Her only hope for survival is Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), a man who was sent back in time to protect her. Kyle has lived through the future and encountered Terminators before. Yet this particular model proves to be extremely difficult to kill. It never rests, and it won’t stop until Sarah is dead. The franchise began here, and it’s still incredible four decades later.

The Terminator is streaming on HBO Max until September 30.
