Los Critics Choice Awards 2026 dieron inicio oficialmente a una nueva temporada de premios el domingo 4 de enero.
Chelsea Handler regresó como presentadora de los conocidos premios al cine por cuarto año consecutivo y señaló en una declaración de noviembre de 2025: “Comenzar el año con los Critics Choice Awards se siente bien” — nada implica “nuevos comienzos” tan bien como una sala llena de críticos listos para contarte cómo te fue el año pasado.
En una declaración propia, el director ejecutivo de la Critics Choice Association, Joey Berlin, calificó a Handler, de 50 años, como “la mejor presentadora de premios del mundo” y “la persona perfecta para encabezar el desfile” de celebración de lo más destacado de Hollywood en cine y televisión.
Si bien no se tomaron nuevas decisiones respecto al presentador del programa, la CCA sí añadió algunas categorías nuevas para la ceremonia de 2026, incluyendo Mejor serie de variedades, Mejor diseño de acrobacias y Mejor casting y elenco.
Cuando se anunciaron las nominaciones en diciembre de 2025, Sinners de Ryan Coogler lideró la sección de cine con un total de 17 nominaciones. One Battle After Another de Paul Thomas Anderson le siguió con 14 nominaciones, y finalmente ganó los premios a Mejor Película y Mejor Director. En televisión, Adolescence y Nobody Wants This de Netflix encabezaron con seis y cinco nominaciones, respectivamente.
