A woman in Florida has been arrested after she repeatedly stabbed the father of her children after she learned that he was cheating on her with her sister.
Jaqueline Rodriguez was arrested on Sunday, February 8, and stands accused of aggravated battery with great bodily harm, according to online records viewed by Luxury Handbag Shopping.
She was arrested in connection to an event that took place around midnight on April 28, 2025, at an apartment in Miami, according to a probable cause arrest affidavit viewed by Law and Crime.
Authorities responded to the apartment complex after several residents called 911 to report that they heard gunshots coming from a unit on the first floor. Upon their arrival, officials found blood on the front door of the apartment.
After cops knocked on the door and received no response, they forced their way into the residence and found blood on the floor near the entryway. Authorities quickly found the victim, who was suffering from several scrapes and cuts. The victim added that he did not answer the door because he allegedly did not hear the cops knocking.
After he was asked what happened, the victim told the police that Rodriguez, 41, “used a knife towards him during their physical altercation” and that he was “attacked and this was uncalled for,” per the affidavit.
He also explained that Rodriguez was his “baby mama,” and he claimed she became upset when she found out he was having sex with her sister. Rodriguez and the victim then got into a fight before she allegedly pulled out a knife and started stabbing him, according to the affidavit.
“Based on the testimony of [the victim], it is believed Ms. Rodriguez tried to cause great bodily harm and permanent disfigurement,” authorities wrote in the legal document.
After he spoke to police, the victim refused to make a sworn statement. However, he did allow the police officers to take photos of his injuries.
Rodriguez was arrested nearly one year after the crime took place on February 8 around 1 a.m. It is not currently clear why it took so long for the arrest to be made.
In addition to the aggravated battery with great bodily harm charge, Rodriguez is also facing burglary and grand theft charges. Those charges stem from an incident in which she and a man allegedly stole $14,000 worth of items from a vehicle after a car crash, which took place just three months before the stabbing.
It is not currently clear if Rodriguez has entered a plea for any of her charges or if she has retained legal counsel following her arrest.
The Miami Police Department did not immediately respond to Us’ request for comment.
If she is found guilty of aggravated battery with great bodily harm, Rodriguez could face up to 15 years in prison, 15 years of probation and be ordered to pay $10,000 in fines.
Meanwhile, a burglary sentence in Florida is determined based on the severity and circumstances of the case. As for the grand theft charge, those found guilty of the crime in Florida can be sentenced to serve between five to 30 years in prison.
