A Florida woman has been arrested after she allegedly attacked her 83-year-old stepfather, reportedly saying later she was disappointed that the kitchen knives she’d used were too “dull” to kill him.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said that Jennifer Gill has been accused of second-degree attempted murder in the stabbing of her 83-year-old stepfather.

Deputies reported to a home around 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, after they received a report of a stabbing. The 911 caller said that the victim had identified Gill, 45, as his attacker, according to a probable cause arrest affidavit viewed by Luxury Handbag Shopping.

Authorities said that the victim’s wife, who is Gill’s mother, rushed him to the hospital after he suffered several stab wounds, which included seven cuts to the back of his head, three to his left hand and one on his left shoulder.

Gill’s mother told police that she was sleeping but woke up when she heard the victim screaming. She said she went to see what was happening and found her husband “covered in blood with several wounds,” per the affidavit.

She said she then saw Gill outside hosing down the victim’s cane. While the wife said she didn’t know why Gill stabbed her husband, she said that she “hates” him for “unknown reasons.”

Deputies set out to find Gill and later located her walking nearby. She was then arrested and was taken into custody, where she allegedly gave several vague statements claiming that the victim had done “a lot of pain to people.” However, she did not share specific examples about his alleged actions.

Gill also allegedly told police that there have been “a lot of years of things building up,” according to authorities. “Maybe I just acted on things,” she added.

She told authorities that the victim wanted to work through their issues and said he kept following her. Gill added that she “didn’t want to have to do it,” but decided she “might as well just try.”

When cops asked for clarity on what she was willing to try, she allegedly said that she attempted “to kill him.” She also claimed that she previously told her stepfather that she “should have killed you already.”

At the time of the incident, Gill allegedly sprayed soapy water in the victim’s eyes and started “whacking him with the knife,” which she told police was “very dull.” Gill said the victim tried to stand up from a chair, though she pushed him back down.

“I know it’s not nice to say, but from doing it, I wish to God they would’ve been sharp as f**k,” she allegedly said about the knives, per the affidavit.

Gill reportedly stabbed the victim several times before she started beating him with his cane.

While Gill insisted the victim had been abusive, her family members insisted her stepfather was a sweet and quiet man who had trouble moving due to his bad knee.

Gill is currently in custody at the Marion County Jail without bond. She is next scheduled to appear in court on April 21.

It is not currently clear if Gill has retained legal representation or entered a plea.
