A Tennessee woman was arrested after she allegedly beat her grandfather’s wife and left her bleeding on the floor.
Allanah Samples was taken into custody on abuse of an elderly person and aggravated assault charges.
Police were called to a home near Tennessee City on March 23 after they received a report of an elderly woman bleeding on the floor, according to an affidavit obtained by the Dickson Post.
The victim was married to Samples’ grandfather, and she identified her husband’s granddaughter as the person who beat her up with a bat.
Samples, 24, profusely apologized when Dickson County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the home, according to the affidavit. While speaking to police, Samples reportedly said that her “mommy” came after her with the bat first. A police officer then asked if she had been hit by the bat and she said she had not been.
Despite the comment, Samples seemingly did not further elaborate on allegedly being attacked first.
Deputies found the older woman on the floor and concluded that she had suffered from a head injury following the attack. The woman allegedly told the deputies that Samples hit her in the head and knees with the bat. The older woman’s condition has not been made public as of time of publication, and her name and age has also not been released.
As police continued the investigation, they searched the home and were able to locate the bat.
Samples eventually admitted to the deputies that she attacked the older woman with the bat. However, police have not shared the reason or motive for the alleged attack.
Samples was ultimately charged with aggravated domestic assault and abuse of an elderly person resulting in serious bodily injury.
She was booked into the Dickson County Jail and is currently still in custody.
Her bond information was not available, while it’s also not known if she has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following her arrest.
Samples had been originally scheduled to appear in court on March 26. However, the hearing was rescheduled and will now take place on May 25.
The Dickson County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Luxury Handbag Shopping’s request for comment regarding the case.
Samples’ relationship dynamic with her grandfather and the victim are not currently known. It has not been revealed why Samples was in the home at the time of the incident and if she lives at the residence with her elderly family members.
