Police in Texas believe that a 15-year-old girl is in grave danger one week after she disappeared with a 41-year-old man.

Maryuri Yolani Gomez Marquez was last seen in Plains, Texas, around 8 a.m. on Sunday, December 28, according to a statement from the Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Soon after she went missing, an AMBER alert was issued in connection with her disappearance.

Authorities said that Marquez was last seen with Juan Orlando Garcia Sarmiento, and he is now considered “wanted” by law enforcement.

It is not currently clear how Sarmiento, 41, and Maryuri know each other or if they’re related. However, KFDX reported that authorities believe the teen is in grave or immediate danger.

In addition to sharing photos of both Marquez and Sarmiento, the AMBER alert included a description of a vehicle that’s suspected to be connected to her disappearance. Authorities said that people should be on the lookout for a 2010 Black Ford with a Texas license plate number of WGV9997.

Marquez is Hispanic with brown hair and eyes. She weighs 125 lbs and is 5’11” tall. Meanwhile, Sarmiento is also Hispanic and stands 5’9″ in height. He has black hair and brown eyes, as well as weighs 188 lbs.

Authorities are asking anyone with information or who may have seen them to call 911 or contact the Texas Department of Public Safety at (806)740-8770.

Marquez disappeared just days after fellow Texan Camila Mendoza Olmos went missing on the morning of December 24, 2025, in Bexar County. While her family told authorities that she would regularly take morning walks, they noted that she left the home without her car or cell phone.

Authorities set out on a search for the 19 year old’s body, and her remains were found in a field approximately 100 yards from her home on December 30, 2025.

The medical examiner determined that Olmos died by suicide after a firearm was located at the scene, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Olmos’ family member, Nancy Olmos, broke her silence regarding the teen’s death in a Facebook post on Thursday, January 1.

“In the name of the Olmos family, we want to give a humble and heartfelt thank you to all the news reporters, police detectives, FBI, churches, friends, family and many other communities for your support and prayers,” Nancy wrote. “Our beloved Camila Mendoza Olmos is now with the Good Lord.”

She then asked that the public respect her family’s privacy in light of the difficult time. “We kindly ask that you please respect our pain and, most importantly, keep my cousin Rosario — Camila’s mom — and my nephew Carlos — Camila’s brother — in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” Nancy wrote. “Thank you, and God bless you all.”
