A man has been arrested in Pennsylvania after he allegedly tried to buy a 6-year-old girl from her mother for $5,000 after he babysat the young victim.

The Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Allegheny Township police said the incident took place when Theodore Magee was asked to watch the girl overnight at his home in March 2025, according to CBS News.

After the victim returned home from being babysat by Magee, she told police that Magee, 44, inappropriately touched her while they were both sleeping on the same air mattress. Investigators then said that Magee sent a text message to the girl’s mom, in which he offered to buy her for $5,000.

While speaking to investigators, Magee claimed that he only hugged the victim and did not touch her inappropriately. Police also said that Magee showed officers text messages and videos, in which he referred to the young victim as his girlfriend.

A search warrant was executed, and investigators were able to look through Magee’s phone, where they found photos and videos of the girl. Additionally, police found the message in which he offered to buy the young girl.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim’s mother explained that Magee was a family friend. Magee was arrested and taken into custody at Westmoreland County Prison, according to online records viewed by Luxury Handbag Shopping. He remains in custody after he was denied bail.

While the details regarding his arrest are available online, a mug shot had not been released for Magee as of time of publication.

Following his arrest, he was charged with aggravated indecent assault, attempted aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, indecent assault of a victim less than 13, trafficking and interference with child custody.

It is not currently clear if Magee has retained legal representation or if he has entered a plea. The Allegheny Township Police Department did not immediately respond to Luxury Handbag Shopping’s request for comment.

Magee is scheduled to attend a preliminary hearing on Monday, January 20, before District Judge Cheryl J. Peck-Yakopec, according to Trib Live.

Magee is no stranger to legal troubles, and he was previously arrested on assault and harassment charges in a separate case filed in 2025, according to WPXI. The outcomes of that case are not currently known.

“It’s disturbing, to say the least,” Chief Daniel Uncapher said of the case, according to WPXI. “These investigations are never easy.”

Uncapher also explained that the investigation was launched when Magee contacted police himself to report an alleged incident that took place between the 6-year-old and another child. However, police quickly realized that there was more to the story than Magee was originally sharing with authorities.

“Through the investigation, we identified the actor or the defendant in this case. The investigation proceeded at that point in time and resulted in a set of criminal charges being filed,” Uncapher further explained.

The investigation into the case remains ongoing as police try to determine Magee’s exact crimes.
