A nanny in Lincoln, California, has been arrested after she allegedly abused a child at a park, according to police.

The Lincoln Police Department said that officers responded to Markham Ravine Park on Monday, March 16, for a welfare check after a witness called to report that a woman was allegedly abusing a young child multiple times, according to ABC 10.

In addition to saying they saw the alleged abuse take place, the witnesses also provided a video of the altercation to police as evidence.

Two witnesses followed the nanny — who was identified as Suzanne Buhler — to her home. Police then launched a brief investigation into the claims before Buhler, 41, was arrested and booked on felony child abuse charges.

She was booked into Placer County Jail and has since been released.

It is not currently clear if Buhler has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following her arrest. The Lincoln Police Department did not immediately respond to Luxury Handbag Shopping’s request for comment regarding the case.

Police said that the child had visible injuries that were consistent with the reported assault, per the outlet. Responding officers provided assistance to the child and made sure that the minor made it safely back to her family.

Buhler has advertised nanny services on multiple apps and websites and it’s possible that she may have provided child care to other families, according to police.

The investigation into the case remains ongoing. The Lincoln Police Department has asked anyone with information related to the incident involving Buhler, as well as her other potential childcare services, to contact their investigations division at (916) 645-4047.

Not much is known about the victim, including how long Buhler has been working for the child’s family. However, it was reported that the victim is a 2-year-old girl.

Following Buhler’s arrest, the mother of the alleged victim spoke to CBS Sacramento about the upsetting incident.

“Suzanne Buhler started beating my child at this public park. She pushed her down the slide, punched her stomach and slapped her across the face,” the mother told the outlet in a statement on Thursday, March 19.

Meanwhile, the Lincoln Police Department also issued a statement regarding the matter and insisted they were taking the case seriously.

“LPD takes allegations of child abuse extremely seriously. Protecting children is a top priority, and we will pursue a thorough investigation and hold offenders accountable,” police said, per CBS Sacramento.
