Police are asking the public for help amid the search for a missing woman from West Valley City, Utah, who made several concerning phone calls before she went missing.

West City Valley police said that 31-year-old Shianne Turner was last heard from on February 14, according to KSL.

One day before she went missing, Shianne told her mother that she was traveling to either Las Vegas or Arizona because she believed someone was going to hurt her.

“She was scared, crying, said she needed to leave,” Shianne’s mother, Jennifer Turner, told the outlet about the phone call on February 13. “She has brought up that she was going to get murdered … she did not make sense.”

While Jennifer said that Shianne struggles with addiction issues, she insisted that the phone call was out of character for her daughter. “I understand she had an addiction problem, but I also know she sounded off,” she insisted.

Shianne also told Jennifer that she was leaving with a male acquaintance, and the mother said she could hear the man in the background of the call.

“The man in the background said, ‘We’re going to Vegas to get married.’ And I’m like, ‘What?’ And she was like, ‘No,’” Jennifer recalled.

Jennifer also spoke to Shianne on the phone on February 14, who told her that she was in Arizona.

“She was crying, she was screaming,” Jennifer said. “I heard the man yelling in the background.”

Jennifer claimed that the man was yelling at Shianne to “pull over” during the phone call, which concerned her because her daughter doesn’t drive.

“Then she says, ‘If your child is not making sense, then do something about it,’ and the phone hung up on me,” she recalled. “And that’s the last thing I heard.”

Jennifer said that the same man called her later that day from his own phone, claiming that Shianne jumped out of the car and ran away with another man. He added that she left all of her belongings in his vehicle, including her phone.

“He said, ‘I fear that they are taking her to Phoenix, Arizona, or Nogales near the border of Mexico,’” she claimed. “This is not what my daughter would do. Her phone is her life.”

Police said that the man returned to the Salt Lake City area on February 19, though Shianne was not with him. His name has not been publicly shared since no charges have been pressed against him.

Shianne stands at 5’6″ tall and weighs 145 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes, as well as several tattoos that include moons on her knuckles, an anchor on her ankle, “Karson” on her back and flowers on her hip.

Jennifer also pleaded with the public to help find her daughter. “It’s every mother’s nightmare to live this and to know that your child is somewhere out there, that you don’t know where she’s at,” she said. “Something is going on … we all want to get answers. She has three beautiful children that love her.”
