A California man has been arrested after police determined he was a suspect in two separate homicides that took place in New Jersey and California, including the murder of a young mother.
The Sunnyvale Police Department said that the first killing took place in Trenton, New Jersey, on March 12, 2025, according to KSBW. Meanwhile, the second homicide happened nearly one year later in Sunnyvale, California, on January 7.
Sunnyvale police arrested Alfonso Inestroza, also known as Franquin Inestroza-Martinez, and Gerzon Chirinos, also known as Gerzon Chirinos-Munguia, in early March for their alleged involvement in the January homicide.
After officers responded to reports of a shooting around 9:39 p.m. on January 7, they found a woman inside a vehicle who had been suffering from gunshot wounds. She was later identified as 24-year-old Kembery Chirinos-Flores and she died at the scene. They also found a shotgun they believe was the murder weapon.
Police said the victim and Chirinos, 32, shared a 5-year-old son. However, their relationship status as the time of her death is not currently known.
Inestroza, 30, was arrested in Hollister, California, by a SWAT team and Chirinos was arrested in Sunnyvale in connection to Chirinos-Flores’ death.
In addition to his alleged involvement in Chirinos-Flores’s death, Inestroza was also named a suspect in the March 2025 New Jersey homicide.
The Mercer County Homicide Task Force said officers responded to a welfare check at a home on Dayton Street, where they found a 55-year-old man who had been shot multiple times in the torso.
The victim, who died at the scene, was later identified as Estebam Vicente Sacalxot. Authorities launched an investigation into the murder and named Inestroza a suspect early on. Soon after, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
It is not currently clear what evidence police found to connect Inestroza to the crime, while it’s also not known if the suspect and victim knew each other prior to the homicide.
At the time Inestroza’s arrest warrant was issued, police described him as a Honduran citizen who stands 5-foot-3 and weighs between 135 and 160 pounds. Police also said that he has brown eyes and black hair.
“The Mercer County Homicide Task Force (MCHTF) is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Alfonso Inestroza AKA Franquin Inestroza-Martinez. Inestroza is charged with a shooting homicide that occurred in Trenton in March of this year [2025],” police said in a statement at the time, per Benito Link and NJ.com.
Both Inestroza and Chirinos have been booked into Santa Clara County Jail to face charges regarding the Sunnyvale homicide.
It is not currently clear if either Inestroza and Chirinos have entered a plea or retained legal representation following their arrests. The Sunnyvale Police Department did not immediately respond to Luxury Handbag Shopping’s request for comment regarding the two cases.
