A jury in Hawaii was shown graphic evidence including a bloody rock as Gerhardt Konig stands trial for attempted murder after he allegedly attacked his wife, Arielle Konig, during a cliffside hike.
An evidence specialist and responding officers testified on the fourth day of Gerhardt’s trial on Wednesday, March 25. They walked jurors through the alleged attack and the immediate aftermath, which included a video that captured Arielle appearing disoriented while covered in blood, according to Fox News.
Throughout the video, people were seen helping Arielle, 37, as she had blood dripping down her face and a bandage on her head following the alleged attack. Jurors were also shown the rock that Gerhardt, 47, allegedly used to hit her as he attempted to push her off a cliff.
Gerhardt was arrested one day after the incident took place at Oahu’s Pali Puka Trail in March 2025. The anesthesiologist is currently on trial for second-degree attempted murder and he has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Jurors saw the evidence one day after Arielle took the stand to recount the day of the attack.
As Luxury Handbag Shopping previously reported, Arielle explained that the couple was in Oahu at the time of the incident to celebrate her birthday on March 24, 2025.
She said that she survived the alleged attack after hikers who were nearby heard her screaming for help and called 911.
“I felt hopeful that this was a turning point for us in our marriage, and that this was going to be a nice trip and kind of started the next chapter for us,” Arielle told the courtroom, according to a live-stream of the hearing that was shared by Court TV.
Arielle claimed that Gerhardt took her on a hike on a steep cliff, though she refused to go up an elevation because she was scared of how steep it was.
Arielle said she later took a photo with Gerhardt against a steep cliff, which she admitted made her feel uneasy. She told the court that it was apparent she was uncomfortable, as she asked Gerhardt to step aside so she could move away from the edge.
She said she began to walk toward Gerhardt, and he allegedly grabbed her by her arms and said, “I’m so f**king done with this s**t” and “get back over there.”
Arielle claimed that Gerhardt then got on top of her. “He was first trying to pull me closer to the cliff,” she said, adding that he was holding a syringe and told her to “hold still.”
“F**k you, you’re done,” Gerhardt allegedly said as he held her to the ground. “I’m so sick of your s**t.”
In an attempt to stop Gerhardt, Arielle said that she started talking about their kids. “Our kids will be orphans,” she recalled telling him. “You’ll go to jail and I’ll be dead, our kids need us.”
“You’re done. We don’t need you anymore,” Gerhardt allegedly responded.
While Gerhardt appeared to briefly calm down as she spoke about their kids, she said he started hitting her with rocks soon after.
Arielle called out for help, and Gerhardt allegedly stopped hitting her after two hikers nearby heard her screams and called 911.
