Hunky, handsome, and low-key, Paul Walker started in television, but quickly broke out in Hollywood with films like 1998's Pleasantville, and Varsity Blues and She's All That in 1999. In April 29, 2001, the up-and-comer attended the 3rd Annual Movieline Young Hollywood Awards in Hollywood.
Fast and the Furious — the first in a blockbuster action franchise — debuted in June 2001, as the Glendale, Calif., native played the role of undercover cop Brian O'Connor. "I was working on a movie called The Skulls. The studio, producer, and director asked, 'What do you want to do next?' I said, 'I want to do a movie where I'm racing cars or I'm an undercover cop.' They combined the two and that's how The Fast and the Furious came to be," he told Automobile magazine in June 2013.
The Hollywood hottie was seen autographing a 2005 Silverado Pickup, which was later donated to the National Ability Center in January 2005. "I'm pretty rough around the edges, probably to a fault. I think that's just the generation that I came up under, the kind of guys that I was raised up under. The neighborhood that I grew up in," he told Glamour in October 2011. "I always questioned whether I should be a little more refined. But at the end of the day, I didn't care that much. I am who I am."
Walker was accompanied by actress Regina King during the 3rd Annual Cadillac Super Bowl Grand Prix for Charity at CSX in Jacksonville, Fla. in February 2005. "I'm a professional race car driver, so to me I always think the driving sequences are very serious," he told Hitfix while promoting Fast and the Furious 6 in May 2013. "This franchise -- its hyper-reality. Maintaining that balance I think is critical." He added: "Keeping things that are harmonious. Those are things that I really enjoy."
Walker posed on the red carpet with his Into the Blue costar Jessica Alba in September 2005. The actor was always vocal about his love for surfing — and was often asked what kind of traits he looks for in a woman. "In college, my friends called me Mr. James Bond 007 because I entertained everything: blondes, brunettes, redheads. I'm across the board," he laughed during an interview with Allure in June 2011.
Walker and his younger brother Cody posed together at the Flags of Our Fathers Los Angeles premiere in October 2006. "Both go back to my childhood and I have some of the sweetest memories there," he said of his favorite memories during an August 2011 Cosmopolitan interview. "I'd bottle my biggest memory, which when my daughter was born — that was exciting. Another is when I went on a snowboarding trip with some friends." Walker is a dad to 15-year-old daughter Meadow, with ex Rebecca.
In 2010, the actor created Reach Out Worldwide, a nonprofit organization that was created as a disaster relief organization to help victims from the Haiti earthquake in January 2010. "We're only on the earth for a short period of time," he told Men's Health in January 2010. "Movies aren't enough. I want to take my success and parlay it into something bigger and better."
