Separating after 10 years of marriage, the actress and her Coldplay rocker husband announced their decision to "consciously uncouple" in a March 2014 post on Paltrow's GOOP lifestyle website. "We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate," the parents of Apple and Moses said.
"We will always love each other and be best friends," the "Blurred Lines" singer and his actress wife -- parents to son Julian -- told Us in a statement in late February. The high school sweethearts long dodged rumors of infidelity and sources close to the couple say their split came as no surprise. "It is not a shock to Robin or Paula, and it is something they have discussed for a long time," the insider told Us.
After three years together and a brief January 2013 split, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult called it quits in August. "They just weren't together a lot, her life is a whirlwind. They have gotten back together before, it just got to be too hard for now," a source told Us.
Khloe and French broke up twice in 2014, first in September, and for a second time in December. The reality star found her first serious relationship after her separation from husband Lamar Odom in the rapper, but a source tells Us, "Khloe just wasn't ready."
After a three-year engagement, Hudson and Bellamy called off their wedding plans in December. The actress and the Muse frontman began dating in 2010, and he proposed to the star in April 2011. Bellamy tweeted about the split, writing that it was "for the best."
Vergara and her businessman beau Nick Loeb split for good in May. "Not that anyone should care, but in order to not give the press the chance to invent crazy and hurtful drama, I prefer to tell my fans personally that Nick and I have decided to be apart," she tweeted. "We have been having too many problems with figuring out how to spend time together and because of my work and now his, its been getting worse and worse. Not fun anymore. We are still very close but we believe it's the best thing for us right now."
On-again, off-again since summer 2012, Perry and Mayer -- who released a duet, "Who Do You Love," in December 2013 -- split for good in February. Leading to the unraveling of their romance: Perry's busy schedule. "She's stressed about the tour, they've been fighting," a source said. "It is probably for the best, because she is going to be on tour for forever. Of course this happens all the time, I can't keep track anymore. But for now they are done."
Wright and Foster's wedding plans were abandoned in November when they broke up. The pair got engaged 10 months prior after meeting in 2011 while filming Rampart. "She got swept up in the engagement last Christmas, but then their schedules got crazy and she realized it wasn't the right decision," a source told Us.
The musical pair ended their three-year relationship in September. "I spent three great years with Jordin and she is one of the most amazing people that I have ever met," Derulo told Us. "But as in all relationships there are ups and downs and at this time we have decided to amicably part."
After a two-year marriage, Evan Rachel Wood and Jamie Bell went their separate ways in May. They first met in 2004 and exchanged vows in October 2012. "They both love and respect one another and will of course remain committed to co-parenting their son," a rep for the couple told Us at the time. This is a mutual decision and the two remain close friends."
Lopez stopped singing "I Luh Ya Papi" to Smart in June. The singer started dating her backup dancer in 2011, but the relationship ran its course. "It has actually been an amicable process that started a few months ago," an insider told Us. "It wasn't an easy decision, but they decided to stay friends...Their relationship couldn't work with the distance. He started trying to establish his own life and career, and she is so focused on hers, and they just couldn't be all about each other anymore."
The notorious player found himself single again in December, when he parted ways with Garrn. DiCaprio began dating the model in May 2013, but kept the relationship quiet after his previous flings with stunners like Gisele Bundchen, Bar Refaeli, and Blake Lively.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star split from her husband in October. It was a tough year for Nida, who reported to prison in September to serve an eight-year sentence for fraud. In the midst of his legal proceedings, he accused Parks of not being there for him and the duo fought publicly.
The Fault in Our Stars leading actor and his longtime girlfriend broke things off in August. Elgort and Komyshan were high school sweethearts, but couldn't keep things going as their lives got hectic. "They tried to navigate his commitments, but between filming and press for the movies [it got difficult]," a source told Us.
Efron and Rodriguez had a whirlwind summer romance, but their brief affair ended in August. "Michelle is going to do her own thing. Zac knew this about her when he got with her," a a source told Us at the time. "He's very into her though, and perhaps more than she's into him."
The Jonas Brother parted ways from his illustrator girlfriend in August. The attractive pair, who dated for 20 months confirmed their breakup in a statement. "Joe and Blanda have mutually decided to part ways," Jonas' rep told Us. "The split was amicable and the two remain friends, with great respect for one another."
The GMA personality said "goodbye" to Murphy in August. Strahan and his longtime love called off their engagement five years after the former NFL star proposed in 2009. "They love each other very much but with the distance and work schedule it has been hard to maintain the relationship," Strahan's rep told Us at the time.
After six years of marriage, Jewel and Murray parted ways in July. The singer and the rodeo star tied the knot in 2008 and welcomed a son Kase together in 2011. Ty and I have always tried to live the most authentic life possible, and we wanted our separation as husband and wife to be nothing less loving than the way we came together," Jewel wrote of the separation. "For some time we have been engaged in a private and difficult, but thoughtful and tender undoing of ourselves."
The One Direction singer found himself back on the market in May. Payne and his girlfriend of eight months Smith broke up after a quick relationship. "He's devastated that it's over but it was for the best," a source told Us. "They were spending too much time apart and it's only going to get worse this year -- it was draining for the both of them and led to a lot of arguments."
The Newsroom actress and the Safe House star broke up after about two years together. Sources confirmed to Us in April that the pair, who began dating in March 2012, had been apart for a few months. "A lot had to do with distance," a source adds of the breakup, though Munn soon found a new man in NFL star Aaron Rodgers.
Though they parted ways in summer 2013, Watson's rep did not confirm their split until January. "Emma and Will separated last summer and are no longer in touch," the rep told Us at the time of Watson and her college boyfriend, who took their relationship public in April 2012 when they were spotted making out at the Coachella Music Festival.
"Kelly is looking forward to a new year full of fresh beginnings," a rep for Osbourne said after Luxury Handbag Shopping broke news that she and the vegan chef called off their engagement. Together since December 2011, they confirmed their engagement in July 2013 after a romantic Anguilla proposal. "I've never felt this close to another human being, ever," Osbourne told Us of Mosshart. "People say we're co-dependent, but we just want to be together all the time."
Eighteen months after welcoming their daughter, Lauryn Anabelle, the former Dancing With the Stars champ and his girlfriend -- whom he first met in 2008 on the set of All My Children -- split. "Diana and I have ended our relationship," Martinez told Us in a January statement. "However, we are committed to working together to raise our daughter in a healthy and happy environment."
Previously linked to Justin Bartha, designer Greg Chait and restaurateur Scott Sartiano, Olsen began dating the CEO of luxury eyewear brand Oliver Peoples in September 2013. "He was a great guy and cute, but it didn't work out," an insider revealed of Schulte after the duo's romance fizzled a mere four months later.
Livin' la vida single! The Latin crooner started off 2014 as a single man, after he and the stock broker -- with whom Martin welcomed twin boys via a surrogate in 2008 -- mutually called it quits. "[They] continue to be united by friendship and their shared experiences," Martin's rep told Us in January.
Love isn't keeping them together any longer. In mid-January, Toni Tennille filed to divorce her husband and singing partner Daryl Dragon after nearly 40 years of marriage. Dragon -- who toured as a keyboardist with his wife alongside the Beach Boys in the '70s and later released solo hits including "Do That To Me One More Time" and "Muskrat Love" -- told TMZ at the time that he was blindsided by Tennille's filing.
First confirming that she was indeed dating her bodyguard during a September 2012 interview with Katie Couric, Seal's ex-wife called it quits with Kirsten. At the time of their split, Klum's divorce from Seal -- with whom the supermodel has four kids -- had yet to be finalized.
After 27 years of marriage, Real Housewives of New York City star Ramona filed to divorce the father of their daughter, Avery, in January."They like to put on appearances like things are okay. It's been going on like this for a while," a source close to the couple told Us at the time of their troubles.
The Face mentor and supermodel was back on the prowl in early 2014 after cutting ties with the New York Mets pitcher after eight months of dating. Though the couple spent quality time vacationing abroad in spots like Thailand and Vietnam, their romance fizzled after the duo hit a rough patch. "The split was amicable, and they remain good friends," reported a source close to the couple.
Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger's model daughter began dating surfer Trout in 2013, but her busy day-to-day commitments to school, modeling and other projects got in the way of having a boyfriend. By March 2014, a source confirmed to Us that Baldwin and Trout had indeed parted ways.
"Though we have weathered many storms together, we recently made the tough decision to engage in a trial separation," the Little Couple, Big World reality stars -- parents of twin sons Zach and Jeremy, daughter Molly and son Jacob -- told Us in March of their decision to part ways after 26 years of marriage. "It's not my choice for him to leave. I am saddened by it," Amy added. "We don't have a plan for how we're going to work this out, so it's not going to be easy."
Announcing his split from lawyer Voronov after two years of marriage via Twitter in March, Weir later called his union "threatening" and said the couple's fights had occasionally gotten "physical." A rep for Voronov told Us the lawyer was taking the breakup especially hard. "It is our extreme hope and desire that this divorce could have been handled amicably. Not only is Victor heartbroken but he is now humiliated," Voronov's rep said.
"After much consideration, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald are ending their marriage. They have been living separately for the past six months due to work obligations," a rep for the actress told Us in March, two years after the Twilight film star and American Idol alum -- currently working on an album together -- tied the knot. "They remain best friends and look forward to their continued journey together."
Separating in July 2013, the "Right Here Waiting" crooner and his wife publicly announced their intention to divorce in April after 25 years of marriage. Calling it quits with his actress wife Rhodes, Marx -- dad to three adult sons -- told Katie Couric he's slowly getting back into the dating scene. "It's all brand new to me, so I'm just having fun," Marx said.
The walk down the aisle is off! Getting engaged in October 2013, Rivera and rapper Big Sean called off their wedding six months later at Sean's request. "Sean wishes Naya nothing but the best and it is still his hope that they can continue to work through their issues privately," a rep for the rapper told Us after news broke of his split with the Glee star, amid rumors she was cheating during their courtship.
Angie Harmon and Jason Sehorn's 13-year marriage came to an end in November. The NFL star proposed to his actress love on live television in March 2000 and married her in June 2001. "A large part of it is when you spend five or six months a year away from your spouse, it gets really tough," a source told Us of the busy pair's split.
Eight months after he proposed to Brett Rossi (aka Scottine Sheen), Charlie Sheen confirmed to Luxury Handbag Shopping that the wedding was off. He said in a statement to Us in October, "Scotty and I had a great year together as we traveled the world and crossed a lot of things off our bucket list. She's a terrific gal, but we've mutually decided to go our separate ways and to not spend the rest of our lives together."
Though never married, the actress and legendary director announced two days before Christmas that they were splitting after 13 years together. "Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter separated amicably earlier this year and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children," her rep told Luxury Handbag Shopping in a statement. The two share two kids: son Billy and daughter Nell.
