Gina Rodriguez’s name has become a trending topic after she was mentioned in a legal dispute involving It Ends With Us stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
Court documents connected to the case and unsealed in January 2026 referenced the Jane the Virgin actress as having worked closely with Baldoni and fellow actress Jenny Slate, who portrayed the sister of Baldoni’s character in the film released in August 2024.

Gina Rodriguez and Justin Baldoni Worked Together on ‘Jane the Virgin’
“[Justin] Baldoni first rose to worldwide fame through his role as Rafael on The CW’s award-winning phenomenon Jane the Virgin opposite Gina Rodriguez, which spanned five seasons [from 2014 to 2019],” docs viewed by Us in an “About the Cast” section stated amid the actor’s ongoing court war against Blake Lively.
In December 2024, the Gossip Girl alum filed her complaint against Baldoni in the California Civil Rights Department before suing him over sexual harassment and misconduct claims.
He filed a $400 million countersuit, accusing Lively of orchestrating a “strategic and manipulative” smear campaign as well as defamation, arguing that she used harassment claims to gain control over the movie and destroy his reputation. His countersuit was dismissed in June 2025 and the two are now set to face off in civil court later this year.
Meanwhile, Baldoni has continued to deny Lively’s allegations about his conduct during the production of It Ends With Us.
Gina Rodriguez Also Has Prior Professional Ties to Jenny Slate
According to the docs obtained by Us, “[Jenny] Slate starred opposite an incredible cast including Gina Rodriguez, Scott Eastwood, Manny Jacinto, and Clark Backo. I Want You Back premiered on Amazon Prime on February 11, 2022.”
Slate notably slammed Justin Baldoni in newly unsealed text messages, calling the actor a “false ally” of women, adding that she was “unwilling to do anything that promotes the 2 image that he’s crafting as a ‘male feminist’ … like … honestly i have no words to describe what a fraud he is.”
“He’s the biggest clown and the most intense narcissist,” wrote Slate in the messages.
Gina Rodriguez Has Spoken Highly of Justin Baldoni and Said They’re Close Friends
Gina Rodriguez revealed which of her Jane the Virgin costars she was eager to reunite with on her new game show, Lucky 13, during an exclusive interview with Us in August 2024.
“I would love Justin [Baldoni] to come,” she told Us about Baldoni. “Justin is super busy. But Justin is also one of my closest friends and we talk all the time. I could get him to come on the show.”
Baldoni also officiated her wedding to husband Joe LoCicero in 2019.
The actor sang her praises that same year and reflected on his filming experience with Rodriguez on the set of Jane the Virgin. Rodriguez portrayed Jane, who became pregnant after an accidental artificial insemination by her gynecologist. Baldoni played Rafael, the father of her baby.
