It seems Southern Charm alum Olivia Flowers’ relationship with Alex Williams would have had all the makings for reality TV.
The couple met at a wedding in Texas in May 2023 and got engaged as part of an elaborate surprise planned by Williams in New York City just over a year later. News broke in July 2024 that she was leaving the Bravo show after two seasons.
Williams got Flowers’ parents involved as he popped the question with a 4-carat diamond ring from Nicole Rose Jewelry in October 2024.
Williams and Flowers later announced that they had called off their wedding in October 2025 — though they made the surprising choice to stay together as a couple.

Flowers confirmed during an appearance on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast in December 2023 that Williams works in finance.
According to Flowers, she initially didn’t share much publicly about their relationship out of respect for Williams’ privacy.
“I didn’t really talk about him much; I wanted to see how it went first,” she added.
The couple navigated a long-distance relationship early on because Williams worked in Dallas while Flowers was based in Charleston.
“He can work remote, so he’s in Charleston a little bit,” she explained in the podcast interview.

Flowers teased that she was seeing someone in a TikTok video in November 2023. She shared footage of her ex-boyfriend Austen Kroll and another man playing golf during a Bahamas getaway.
“When your ex and new man’s have the same tee time,” she joked.
She explained on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast in December 2023 that the TikTok video was her attempt at a “soft launch” of her new relationship.
In May 2024, Flowers finally confirmed Williams’ identity via an Instagram post, in which she reflected on how they met at a friend’s wedding in Texas.
“After arriving late to a wedding (& tripping up the church stairs) I was met by a handsome usher to take me to my seat. Later, that same usher asked my date (my dad) if he could dance with me,” she wrote. “A year later and we’re still dancing 🪩(and tripping up stairs) Cheers to stage 5 clinging.”
How Did Olivia Flowers and Alex Williams Get Engaged?
Williams popped the question on September 25, 2024 in New York City after weeks of planning a huge surprise for his partner.
Speaking to People, Williams confirmed that he secretly asked Flowers’ parents, Garry and Robin, for permission to propose. Together, they came up with a plan for Williams to pop the question while all four were in New York City for a speaking engagement.
“Olivia has such an incredible group of friends, from elementary school through to college, and she’s very close with her parents, so I knew involving them somehow would mean a lot to her. I wanted her to feel all the love and the excitement in the world from the surprise of her loved ones,” Williams explained. “Her mom Robin had the idea to propose while the four of us would be in New York together, for the Project Lyme Gala Olivia was speaking at.”
All four flew into New York City ahead of the planned proposal — though it wasn’t so easy for Williams to pull off his surprise.
He faced logistical challenges due to a United Nations meeting near their hotel and was forced to bring in Flowers’ social media manager to help organize some last-minute changes. The social media manager convinced Flowers to come to their hotel for a brand photo shoot in order to avoid raising her suspicion.
“It got a little hectic, but luckily Olivia was incredibly busy with her Project Lyme speech, so she didn’t catch on to anything at all,” Williams said.
Once Flowers arrived at the hotel room, she was caught completely off guard by Williams dropping to one knee and proposing with a 4-carat diamond ring designed by Nicole Rose Jewelry, complete with an 18k yellow gold band.
“Alex said, ‘Olivia Barbara Ellen Flowers. You’re the girl of my dreams. Became the love of my life. And I’d like to ask will you marry me?’” she recalled.
Flowers was joined by her parents and several of her closest friends to celebrate after she accepted the proposal.
“I could see it on Olivia’s face after the proposal that she was so excited to call her people and share the news, so arranging to have them be there and surprise her was so much fun,” Williams told People. “We opened bottles of champagne and Olivia’s favorite wine and celebrated with everyone on the terrace. We later went to Olivia’s favorite Italian restaurant in NYC, which is also where Alex’s brother and [his] wife surprised them, Trattoria Dell’Arte.”

Flowers admitted exclusively to Luxury Handbag Shopping in December 2024 that the early stages of wedding planning were “overwhelming.”
“I’ve only barely scraped the surface of wedding plans,” she said. “We’re just kind of staying in the engagement bliss for right now.”
Flowers was noncommittal about whether some of her former Bravo costars would make the wedding guest list.
“It depends where we do it,” she stressed. “If we do it more local [to Charleston], of course. But if we do a destination wedding, it’ll probably be a little more intimate.”

Flowers released a statement through her agency Cabine Creative in October 2025 to announce that she and Williams called off their wedding.
“After much thought and many heartfelt conversations, Olivia and her fiancé Alex have made the difficult decision to not move forward with their wedding,” the statement read. “This was not a decision made lightly, but one grounded in mutual respect and love for one another.”
The statement stressed that Flowers and Williams were “profoundly grateful for the love and support of their friends and family” even though things didn’t work out the way they “originally envisioned.”
However, their statement also confirmed that Flowers and Williams were staying together as a couple despite calling off their wedding.

Flowers offered an update on her relationship status in a December 2025 Instagram post, where she admitted “November wasn’t the month I pictured.”
The reality star mentioned that she’d learned that “your support system is everything” and “you can take a beat for yourself” during difficult times — in addition to making an important realization about her relationship.
“You can call off a wedding without calling off a relationship,” Flowers insisted.
