Elle Fanning once declared herself a “hopeless romantic” — and her relationship with Gus Wenner appears to be checking all the boxes of a perfect love story.
“I believe in love at first sight. Call me crazy, but I believe in those things. I feel that it’s my destiny,” Fanning told Harper’s Bazaar U.K. in April 2023 after confirming she and Max Minghella had called it quits after four years of dating.
Fanning wasn’t single for long — Wenner (full name Edward Augustus “Gus” Wenner) came into her life that same year. The couple didn’t go public with their relationship, however, until January 2024 when they attended the Golden Globes.
Two years later, Fanning and Wenner once again turned heads at the awards show. While posing for pictures at the 2026 Golden Globes, Wenner proved short kings are still having a moment as the actress towered over him in heels.
So what do we know about Wenner? Scroll down to learn more about the man Fanning called “the love of my life” in February 2025:

While attending Brown University, Gus teamed up with Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’ daughter Scout Willis to form the musical duo Gus + Scout. They released their self-titled debut EP in 2012.
“We were only ever really friends at a very, very young age, and then were only just aware of each other in adolescence,” Scout explained of her and Gus’ relationship during a 2012 interview with W Magazine. “It wasn’t until my freshman year at Brown that we connected in a real way and began playing music together.”

The following month, Fanning called Gus her “funny Valentine” in a social media tribute for Valentine’s Day.
Gus shared his own tribute for the holiday one year later, sharing a video of Fanning wandering a night market and looking over her shoulder at him. “Everyday is valentines day my love 💜🪽🍦✨ you are my heart,” he captioned the Instagram post in February 2025.

Dakota Fanning Approves of Gus Wenner for Her Sister
Elle’s big sister, Dakota Fanning, is supportive of her and Gus’ relationship.
“If your partner doesn’t post you on Instagram, that’s a red flag. I love my boyfriend, and we’re going to post each other,” Elle said in her joint Vanity Fair interview with Dakota published in September 2025. “I’m so happy. And Dakota loves him. That’s the seal of approval.”
Elle also recalled the first time Dakota met her partner, saying she was in Paris when her sister crossed paths with Gus at a party in Las Vegas.
“They had this whole night of gambling. Dakota was with all of her girlfriends, and I’m getting sent videos. She’s dancing with Gus,” Elle shared.
Dakota remembered the night being a success as well, but noted he made sure Gus knew how important Elle is to her. “I used some stern words. Just warnings, cautions said with a smile,” Dakota teased. “It went great. He’s the brother I never had.”
