New details are being revealed about Jaime King and Austin Sosa’s short-lived marriage and subsequent split.
A source exclusively revealed to Luxury Handbag Shopping that the pair got married in secret sometime before the Christmas holiday.
“The divorce has nothing to do with Vikram Chatwal,” the insider revealed. “She was only having business meetings with him. They are not dating. She was under the impression that she was working on her marriage.”
Back in July 2025, news broke that King, 46, was engaged to Sosa after the Hart of Dixie actress was spotted wearing a large diamond on her ring finger at a salon in West Hollywood, California.
Although the pair were able to keep their wedding a secret, multiple outlets confirmed on Thursday, January 22, that Sosa had filed for divorce in Los Angeles.
“I was completely blindsided by the divorce filing, which came out of nowhere,” King told Luxury Handbag Shopping on Friday, January 23. “I was with Austin the night before it became public, and while like many marriages we had normal challenges, I genuinely believed we were working on our relationship.”
King — who shares sons James, 12, and Leo, 10, with ex-husband Kyle Newman — said her focus right now is on her work and children.
“This is deeply personal and should remain private, and I hope people will stop making assumptions,” she said in her statement. “Particularly ones that unfairly and disproportionately scrutinize women simply for doing their jobs.”
Before Sosa filed for divorce, King made headlines when she was spotted with Chatwal on multiple occasions.
After a rep for the actress told Us that the pair are “just friends,” King appeared to reference the situation in her latest statement.
“Any recent interactions being referenced publicly were strictly professional business meetings and have no connection to this private matter,” she said.
As King and Sosa move forward with a divorce, the pair did have some happy memories during their private relationship.
The pair met through mutual friends in December 2024, with King later confessing to having an instant connection.
“When I saw him, I was like, ‘You’re going to be my boyfriend.’ He’s like, ‘Wait, what?’” she previously shared with Us in October 2025. “I think it kind of shook him a little bit. And then the second time, I was like, ‘You’re going to be my boyfriend.’ Which is such a silly thing to say. It seems so childish, but I just looked [at him], I was like, ‘Oh, no, that’s going to be my person.’”
Although the pair never walked a red carpet together and kept their relationship off social media, King shared a glimpse into the romantic gesture Sosa performed when he proposed.
“It wasn’t extra. It was just more like, ‘Yeah, we got each other,’” King said. “And I think now more than ever, that’s super important. You know, with everything that’s going on in the world, it’s just like knowing that someone’s got your back and that there’s a promise to take care of each other.”
King added, “I feel like my engagement is to myself, in the best way. To me, an engagement is really about a love for oneself. I’m just really excited for this new time in my life. The person that I’m engaged to, I love deeply.”
