“See You Again” was released as the record’s first single, with listeners immediately dying over Cyrus’ solo sound. Lines like “the last time I freaked out” (still relatable), or the mention of the actress’ “best friend Lesley,” made it a cultural phenomenon.
Lesley Patterson Edmonds was Cyrus’ childhood friend, and they’re still close to this day.

Is Miley Cyrus Still Friends With Lesley Patterson Edmonds?
Miley Cyrus confirmed in a March 2026 interview with Variety that she is still friends with Edmonds.
“My best friend Lesley is my real best friend in Nashville and she was on my cheer team,” Cyrus recalled. “One of the main reasons I didn’t want to get cast as Hannah Montana was because I didn’t want to leave my best friend.”
Cyrus joked that Edmonds uses the line in “See You Again” to secure a difficult-to-obtain restaurant reservation.
“She probably uses it to her advantage more than she admits,” Cyrus said. “She deserves it, though, because I’m not an easy best friend to have. Especially when I was younger because I was wild and being my friend was 24-7 on.”
She added, “I was exactly the way that I am now. I wanted — boredom was the enemy. How do we just stay doing, no matter what that was. I’m still like that, I’m always like that. I don’t love being bored and I’m not bored very often because I keep myself busy but that means my best friend has to keep up.”
In 2017, Edmonds even posed with Miley at the Nashville release party for Cyrus’ album Younger Now.
“I think our face says it all!!” Edmonds captioned a photo at the time. “Loved seeing my girl kill it tonight and I couldn’t be more proud!”
What Is Lesley Patterson Edmonds Doing Now?
According to her Instagram bio, Lesley Patterson Edmonds works in medical aesthetics in Tennessee.
She is the mother to two kids — daughter Lyla and son Ridge — with husband Kevin Edmonds. Lesley showed off her love with a sweet birthday tribute to her husband in December 2025.
“Kevin, you are everyone’s favorite — favorite friend, favorite loud-and-obnoxious laugh, favorite ‘let’s take a shot’ person,” she wrote at the time. “Thankful every day that I get to do life with you. Parenting is no joke, but you’re the rock that holds this crazy little family together.”
She added, “We’ve known each other forever, but somehow it took a random Tin Roof 2 Saturday almost 6 years ago for God to shove us into each other’s lives again. And even though you fish way too much (and usually without me), I wouldn’t trade you for anything. I love you, forever.”
