After covering Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance for more than 65 days, NewsNation senior national correspondent Brian Entin hopes to have the opportunity to sit down with one close family member.
“I would love to interview Savannah [Guthrie], and I’ve obviously, behind the scenes, been trying to make that happen,” Entin, 40, exclusively told Luxury Handbag Shopping on Wednesday, April 8. “If anybody reads this and has a connection, that would be amazing, just because I’ve been so close to the case and I have so much sympathy for her and what her family has gone through.”
Although Entin was able to watch Savannah’s emotional sit-down interview with Hoda Kotb on the Today show last month, he hopes to have his own conversation with Nancy’s daughter and discuss a variety of topics.
“I would love to ask her more about her relationship with her mom, and then also about the investigation,” Entin shared. “I understand her interview with the Today show and with Hoda, and Hoda is her friend, but there were some follow-ups that I would really like to ask about — about what they were kind of going through when they first learned what happened, and what she thinks may have happened behind the scenes.”
News broke on February 1 that Nancy, 84, had been reported missing in Tucson, Arizona, after not attending a virtual church service. Entin traveled to Nancy’s hometown the next day and spent nearly 43 days straight in her city. He continues to make regular visits and doesn’t plan on stopping.

“I have become emotionally invested. I know as a journalist, a lot of the time, you’re supposed to keep emotions out of it, but it’s kind of impossible to do that, especially when you cover cases like the way that I do, where I really just pretty much embed myself into the story,” Entin explained. “I get to know all of the players involved.”
The journalist said he can’t help but think about his own mom as she gets older. When he was able to briefly step away from Tucson to visit his mother, he knew just what to purchase for his family member.
“Even the first time I came home, I got her security cameras. She didn’t have cameras!” he shared. “My own mom, she lives alone. How does she not have cameras? I think that aspect of it has kind of seeped into me. I’m an only child. I’m really close to my mom, and I think maybe that’s one of the reasons I’ve become so invested in this case.”

While Entin has received attention for his consistent and thorough reporting on Nancy’s disappearance, he was quick to give NewsNation kudos for consistently covering a wide variety of missing people.
Every Friday on NewsNation Live With Marni Hughes, viewers are treated to the “missing” series, which highlights other missing cases across the country.
“We don’t just highlight them, we do a whole in-depth story and interview family members every week,” Entin explained. “When people tell me, ‘Oh, you only care about Nancy Guthrie because she’s the mother of a celebrity,’ I’m glad that I can at least highlight, ‘No, our network actually does do these other cases.’ We’ve been quite successful. We’ve had dozens that have been solved.”
While Nancy’s disappearance continues to have more questions than answers, Entin is confident that the case will be solved. In fact, he very much looks forward to the day when he gets the call that a major break has been made in the case.
“Based on everything that I know and in my gut, I really feel like there is going to be a resolution to this case,” Entin told Us. “I have sources, and I know behind the scenes how hard they’re working. There’s this task force that was set up. They’re working full-time around the clock, not only the local detectives, but there are dedicated FBI agents who are so determined.”
Watch NewsNation for Entin’s reporting. The “Missing” series airs on NewsNation Live With Marni Hughes Fridays at 9 p.m. ET.
