Savannah Guthrie’s ‘Today’ Cohosts React to Her Mom Reported Missing: Jenna Bush Hager and More

Savannah Guthrie’s Today cohosts are thinking about her family as her mom, Nancy Guthrie, has been reported missing.

During the Monday, February 2, broadcast, Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin introduced the “deeply personal story” and shared a statement from Savannah, 54, and her family.

“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom,” the statement read. “We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”

Footage began playing of Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos speaking to reporters on Sunday and stating, “This is very concerning to us. We don’t typically get the sheriff out at a scene like this. But it’s very concerning what we’re learning from the house. And so we’ll just continue. The detective’s homicide team is out right now looking at the scene as well.”

When asked whether foul play was suspected, Nanos shared that the possibility could not be “ruled out” at this time. The sheriff went on to note that there were “some concerns” about what was found at Nancy’s home, prompting authorities to call in search and rescue and criminal investigation teams. Helping the search are volunteers on the ground, drones, dogs and a helicopter.

“We’ve pretty much just thrown everything at this that we can,” Nanos added. “[Nancy] is 84 years old and is not of good physical health, and so naturally that’s a great concern.”

Nanos noted that Nancy has a “sound mind,” but there may be other limitations with her physical mobility. “We’ll be at this all night, processing the house,” he said.

News broke on Sunday, February 1, that Nancy was reported missing by her family in Tucson, Arizona, around noon, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities noted that Nancy is a “vulnerable adult” and was last seen “at her residence” on Saturday, January 31.
