Friends of Savannah Guthrie’s Mom Nancy Guthrie Are ‘Holding Out Hope’ She’ll Be Found (Exclusive)

A longtime friend of Today anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mom is speaking out amid the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie.

“I think everybody is not only holding out hope but doing a lot of praying, and that’s pretty much about the only thing I know,” Mary Ann Blevins exclusively tells Luxury Handbag Shopping. “I don’t know anything else. Anything else we know is pretty much from the news.”

Blevins, who is in a book club with Nancy, explained that the 84-year-old did not have any issues with anyone prior to her disappearance.

“She doesn’t have any enemies at all,” Blevins noted. “And this, it’s just a freaky thing.”

Blevins shared that she has not been in contact with Savannah, 54, or the family since Nancy’s disappearance.

“I’ve contacted a lot of friends in the country and outside the country, in different places, letting them know what is happening,” she explained. “People that I know … or our contacts and asking for their prayers. So, I have prayers all over being said for her. We’re always praying, and we’re just asking God to be with her and get her home. And we’re hoping for better news today.”

News broke on Sunday, February 1, that Nancy was reported missing by a family member who called 911. She had last been seen on Saturday, January 31.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared that Nancy’s daughter Annie was the last person to see her. (Nancy shared daughters Savannah and Annie and son Camron with late husband Charles, who died at age 49 after a heart attack.)

“We have a start point,” Nanos exclusively told Us. “The family took her home from dinner at about 9:30 to 9:45 [p.m.] So we would back that up to even say 9 or 8:30 p.m. to start looking.”

Nanos noted that Annie didn’t raise any “red flags” about Nancy’s behavior prior to her disappearance and further claimed that the matriarch’s family members “weren’t alerted to her [missing] until about 11 in the morning” the following day, with police being called around 12:15 p.m.

He explained that authorities are investigating a timeline “anywhere from 9:30 p.m. to 11 [a.m.]” as the window of when Nancy went missing.

“This is an 84-year-old lady who is safe in her own home asleep, and she is taken. That should never happen,” Nanos told Us, noting that Savannah’s mom takes medication and “going without her meds can be fatal.”

Amid the ongoing investigation, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department shared that they have not identified a suspect.

“At this point, investigators have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case. Detectives continue to speak with anyone who may have had contact with Mrs. Guthrie,” a statement from the department read on Wednesday, February 4. “Detectives are working closely with the Guthrie family. While we appreciate the public’s concern, the sharing of unverified accusations or false information is irresponsible and does not assist the investigation.”

The message concluded, “No suspect or person of interest has been identified at this time.”
