Rihanna and ASAP Rocky recreated Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s iconic umbrella moment during their outing at the Cannes Film Festival.
When the pregnant singer and her partner hit the rainy Cannes red carpet on Monday, May 19, Rihanna stunned in a cerulean Alaïa gown while Rocky — sporting a black suit and tie — held a giant umbrella over her head.
The sight of the couple recalled the time in March 2020 when Harry protected Meghan from the rain as the pair headed into a London charity event. Meghan, 43, wore a turquoise Victoria Beckham dress, and Harry, 40, was all smiles in a blue suit and tie.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary on Monday.
“Seven years of marriage. A lifetime of stories,” Meghan captioned an Instagram tribute. “Thanks to all of you (whether by our side, or from afar) who have loved and supported us throughout our love story — we appreciate you. Happy anniversary!”
Meanwhile, in the South of France, Rihanna, 37, flaunted her growing baby bump as she supported Rocky, 36, at the premiere of his new film, Highest 2 Lowest, amid a downpour.
The “Umbrella” singer revealed her third pregnancy with an appearance at the Met Gala earlier this month, and Monday marked her first time at Cannes in eight years. After the screening of Spike Lee’s neo-noir crime thriller, Rihanna and Rocky — who are already parents to sons RZA, 3, and Riot, 2 — departed the theater, arm-in-arm.
In a recent appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Rocky confirmed that baby No. 3 will also have an “R” name in keeping with family tradition.
“Your first two kids have ‘R’ names, obviously you and Rihanna have ‘R’ names,” Meyers, 51, said at the time. “Is this a lock that the third will have an ‘R’ name, do you think?”
Confirming that was the plan, Rocky replied, “For sure.”
Luxury Handbag Shopping confirmed on May 5 that the couple are expecting another little one. Rocky told The Associated Press the same day how happy he is that he no longer has to keep the pregnancy news under wraps.
“It feels amazing, you know. It’s time that we show the people what we was cooking up. And I’m glad everybody’s happy for us ’cause we definitely happy, you know,” he told the outlet.
Rihanna and Rocky were friends for years before confirming their romance in 2021. Last year, the “Diamonds” artist opened up about their plans to expand their brood.
“[I’ll have] as many kids as God wants me to have,” Rihanna told Elle in April 2024. “I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”
