Country singer Ray Stevens is on the road to recovery after breaking his neck.
Stevens, 87, suffered a fall on Sunday, March 29, according to a press release obtained by People. Stevens was “briefly hospitalized in the Nashville area and is now recovering at home.”
After breaking his neck in the fall, the singer will wear a neck brace for “approximately four weeks.”
“Despite the injury, he remains fully mobile and in good spirits as he continues his recovery,” the release reportedly says.
Stevens is still scheduled to release his new album, Favorites Old & New, on Friday, April 10. The release noted that Stevens’ 13-song album “features a curated mix of beloved standards alongside new selections from a range of talented songwriters.”
The album will contain tracks including “The Look of Love,” “It Had To Be You,” and “Come Rain or Come Shine,” and new selections like “I Guess You’ve Never Been in Love With the Moon,” “Moving Out is Easier Than Moving On,” and “Time Machine.”
“I had a lot of fun creating this album, Favorites Old & New,” Stevens said in a statement. “It really does contain a few of my favorite old songs as well as favorite new ones penned by some talented writers. I just hope Ray Stevens fans enjoy it as much as Ray Stevens!”
While Stevens has yet to address the incident on his official Instagram account, the singer took to his social media to commemorate the birthday of Bobby Bare.
“Today we celebrate the birthday of Bobby Bare!” the Instagram post read on Tuesday, April 7. “Bobby and Ray Stevens go way back as both friends and musicians. They even worked together on Bobby’s hit “Streets Of Baltimore”. Here is Ray Stevens performing Bobby’s first Top 10 hit “Detroit City” live at the CabaRay Showroom in Nashville, TN. #HappyBirthday Bobby!”
Stevens previously made headlines in 2025 when he suffered a minor heart attack and underwent a subsequent surgery.
“Country Music Hall of Fame member Ray Stevens is in recovery after undergoing minimally invasive heart surgery yesterday morning. Last Friday evening, Ray complained of chest pain and was admitted to a Nashville hospital. After a heart catheterization procedure, it was determined he’d suffered a mild heart attack,” a statement read via his Instagram at the time. “Ray’s initial surgery was successful but performances at his CabaRay Showroom are understandably cancelled through July 2025 as he recovers.”
