Rachel Lindsay opened up about why she didn’t sign a prenup with ex-husband Bryan Abasolo before their 2019 wedding.
“I did love that man,” Lindsay, 40, said during the Wednesday, March 25, episode of Justin Sylvester’s “Yestergays” podcast.
Sylvester, 39, then pointed out that Lindsay was the “only lawyer” he knew who didn’t get a prenup.
“Yeah, I mean, what can I say?” Lindsay replied. “I will forever be known as the only lawyer who didn’t get a prenup. I have to eat it. I’m not gonna sit here and try and defend it, [but] I can explain it, which I will.”
She elaborated, “I think what people really don’t understand [is] being in a relationship if not black-and-white. I made a decision [and] it was costly.”
Lindsay noted that not getting a prenup ended up being “the most expensive decision” she ever made. “At the time, it’s what I wanted to do,” she said with a shrug.
According to Lindsay, Abasolo was “disgusted” that she brought up a prenup, which she said “should have been a red flag.”
“Ladies, or men, if that is how they respond, then that’s like, ‘Well, why? Why would you do that?’” she continued. “What I should have said was, ‘If, let’s say there is a disparity, do you believe you deserve half?’”

“And he said, ‘Yes,’” Lindsay recalled. “I kind of put it out of my mind, but I knew [he was] f***ing lying.”
Lindsay shared that she was confused by Abasolo’s response at the time, but she never thought it would be an issue down the road.
She and Abasolo met while filming season 13 of The Bachelorette in 2017. Two years later, the pair tied the knot in Cancun, Mexico.
In December 2023, Lindsay and Abasolo announced their separation. The following month, he filed for divorce.
The former couple reached a divorce settlement in September 2024, with Lindsay reportedly having to pay $500,000. In January, she confirmed to People that she “finished paying” the settlement.
“We are free. We are happy,” she said. “Can you see the glow?” She added that it felt like “I just gave birth to a baby or I just let go.”
