Prince William kept it cool when asked about his family during a recent public appearance — but seemingly hinted at his ongoing rift with brother Prince Harry.
While visiting the Army Air Corps in Suffolk, England on Wednesday, June 4, the Prince of Wales exchanged pleasantries with a few of the soldiers. William, 42, asked, “Is the pace of life good at the moment?”
One soldier noted that it was a “mixed bag,” which led into a further conversation about family. William was quick to agree with the soldier’s statement.
“Family’s OK? See you enough?” he asked. “Some of them might not want to see you that much. It’s a mixed bag sometimes.”
William’s comment comes a little over a month after Harry, 40, spoke candidly about his family’s ongoing rift during a bombshell interview with the BCC.
The Duke of Sussex revealed on May 2 that their father, King Charles III, “won’t speak to me” when pleading for a reconciliation with his family.
“There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” Harry said at the time. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
Harry stated that he had officially “forgiven” his family. “There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family,” he said. “It would be nice to reconcile.”
The interview came after Harry lost his appeal for government-funded security in the U.K., alluding that his father had something to do with the loss.
“There is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands,” he added. “Ultimately, this whole thing could be resolved through him. Not necessarily by intervening, but by stepping aside, allowing the experts [to] do what is necessary.”
Sources told Luxury Handbag Shopping in this week’s cover story that the interview also caused a deeper rift between Harry and William, who was “absolutely appalled” by his brother’s comments.
“There is no turning back for William,” one insider shared. “The door is firmly shut.”
A separate royal source told Us last month that William “is done” with Harry — especially after the BBC interview.
“William doesn’t talk about Harry anymore,” the second insider continued. “Everyone knows it’s a subject that they shouldn’t bring up, so he hasn’t brought up the interview and won’t.”
The source continued: “When he becomes King, everybody thinks the divide will become even wider.”
Wednesday’s comment from William is the closest he’s come to publicly acknowledging the feud between him and Harry. The brothers have been at odds since Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, announced their departure from the royal family in 2020.
