Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton’s upcoming move has forced other families to vacate their homes.
The royal couple’s relocation to Windsor Great Park’s Forest Lodge in England resulted in two families who formerly lived near the residence being asked to vacate their homes, the Daily Mail reported on Saturday, August 16.
The outlet said the families were “not expecting” to have to move.
Luxury Handbag Shopping understands that no eviction notices were given, however, and tenants have moved to similar or better housing within the Great Park, with everyone remaining in Crown Estate properties.
The two families were first asked to relocate “earlier this summer” and “have since departed in preparation” for William, 43, and Kate, also 43, to relocate their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, from their current home, Adelaide Cottage, People reported on Sunday, August 17.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace confirmed to Us earlier Saturday that “the Wales family will move house later this year” after living in Adelaide Cottage for the past three years.
A royal source told The Sun that William and Kate are hoping the move will provide a “fresh start” in light of her cancer diagnosis, subsequent treatment and remission.
Forest Lodge is an eight-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion built in the 1770s. Features include a chandelier-lit ballroom, a tennis court, a pond, Venetian windows and extensive grounds.
The Daily Mail reported that “new shrubs” and “privacy screens” already have been installed at the property in the lead-up to the couple’s relocation.
The new beginning will come amid Kate’s ongoing return to public duties. Slowing returning to work, Kate’s recent appearances have included public-fronting outings at the Wimbledon tennis tournament this summer and the annual Trooping the Color parade.
Kate stepped back from her public role last year after she was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer, which she announced in March 2024. She underwent chemotherapy, which she finished in September 2024, and was in remission by the beginning of this year.
In an Instagram post shared with fans on January 14, Kate acknowledged her medical team and the Royal Marsden hospital in London for “looking after me so well during the past year.”
The post continued, “It is a relief to now be in remission. And I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.”
