Matthew Perry’s stepmother, Debbie Perry, filed a victim impact letter with the court before “Ketamine Queen” Jasveen Sangha’s sentencing for her alleged role in the Friends actor’s death.
“The pain you’ve caused to hundreds, maybe thousands, is irreversible. There is no joy to be found, no light in the window,” Debbie wrote in a statement obtained by Luxury Handbag Shopping. “They won’t be back. That thought comes through our day everyday.”
She continued, “You caused this. You, who has talent for business, enough to make money, chose the one way that hurts people. How sad for you. How will you ever find joy? Have you ever found joy? How sad for us all. We miss him.”
Debbie is married to Matthew’s father, John Bennett Perry. She requested that the court give Sangha the maximum sentence so she “won’t be able to hurt other families like ours.”
Perry died in October 2023 at the age of 54 from “the acute effects of ketamine.” Sangha was one of five individuals charged in connection to the actor’s death.
Sangha pleaded guilty in September 2025 to three counts of distribution of ketamine, one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death and one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises.
“She’s taking responsibility for her actions,” Sangha’s attorney, Mark Geragos, said at the time.
Sangha, known as the “Ketamine Queen,” initially denied any involvement in Matthew’s death.
“She isn’t connected to Matthew Perry at all,” Geragos claimed during a Today show interview in September 2024, adding that there’s “no mystery” about Sangha’s alleged association with the late actor. “People like to make her out into something she isn’t, but there’s a whole different side here. Matthew is survived by his parents, stepparents and siblings, who have been vocal about the investigation into his death.
“We were and still are heartbroken by Matthew’s death,” his stepfather, Dateline host Keith Morrison, said in an August 2024 statement. “It has helped to know law enforcement has taken his case very seriously.”
Morrison, 78, is married to Matthew’s mother, Suzanne Perry.
“As other people have told me hundreds of times, ‘It doesn’t go away,’” Morrison said on Hoda Kotb’s “Making Space” podcast in March 2024 when asked about grieving Matthew’s death. “It’s with you every day. It’s with you all the time, and there’s some new aspect of it that assaults your brain. It’s not easy, especially for his mom.”
