The Bachelor alum Madi Prewett was candid about remaining a virgin until marriage before she exchanged vows with Grant Michael Troutt.

Bachelor Nation fans met Prewett during Peter Weber‘s season in early 2020 — and her strong faith quickly became part of her story line. She delved more into making the “commitment to myself” during a dinner date on the show, explaining that she didn’t “expect” him to have made the same decision.

While Weber acknowledged that he would “always respect” her choices, he also noted that he couldn’t “lie” about his own journey. Prewett eventually sent herself home after learning Weber was “intimate” with another finalist.

After the relationship drama played out on the ABC dating series, Prewett continued to be open about her expectations. She got engaged to Troutt in July 2022, tying the knot that October.

“The day that I say ‘I do’ to the person that I want to spend the rest of my life with is the day that he’s getting all of me — body, soul, and spirit,” she said when self-eliminating from The Bachelor. “I just can’t wrap my mind around, in a week from now, if you’re down on one knee and six days before that you slept with someone else.”

In her memoir, Prewett admitted she felt discouraged by Weber when they spoke about her choice to stay celibate.

“As he was on his other dates, I felt like I was going to hit my breaking point. I didn’t know if I could continue with the process,” she wrote. “He couldn’t understand why I was so worried about what had happened in his other relationships and why that should affect ours. I looked at him bleakly and responded, ‘I just can’t fathom on my engagement day, you get down on one knee and propose to me when six days before that you were intimate with someone else.'”

During an interview on the “YTH Nation Podcast,” Prewett broached the “very sensitive subject” in depth.

“I always like to start off by saying, you know, ‘Jesus loves you so much and Jesus is so proud of you,'” she said. “Making a decision today — from this day forward — to save yourself for marriage not only blesses you [and] blesses your relationship with the Lord but also will bless your future husband.”

She continued: “I think for me, the decision was made when I was really young, but then I had to almost reassess it a few times. When you get to college and you’re by yourself and you don’t have your parents around you, you have all the free time [and] you have the empty dorm room, that’s where the real pressures hit.”

When Prewett tied the knot with Troutt, she wore a veil with “Worth the Wait” sewed into the fabric. In a video shared from the couple’s reception, the bride declared, “I’m having sex for the first time tonight!” and was met with cheers from her friends.

June 2025

Prewett discussed “sexual sin” during an episode of her “Stay True” podcast, explaining that she was “enslaved” by “porn and masturbation” for 10 years.

“I would beat myself up and I would be bound by shame because I knew I loved Jesus and I wanted to live a life for Jesus, but I didn’t know how to get unstuck. I didn’t know how to break free from that sin,” she recalled. “I questioned my worth and my identity. Every time I gave into sexual sin, I didn’t know my purpose.”

Prewett detailed the “purity contract” she and Troutt signed before they got married.

“Every time I’m with him, I want to lay down on the couch [and] I want to fool around. I want to mess around [and] I want to make out,” she said on the “Stay True” podcast. “I want all those things because I’m sinful and I have a flesh, and it has feelings; it has desires. When I listen to it, it always leads to shame and it creates division in our relationship.”

She added, “When I pursue purity, even though that’s the harder thing, it actually creates more clarity for our relationship. It creates more clarity for our future. When we were falling into sexual sin and temptation in our dating relationship, what happened was not unity [and] what happened was division.”

February 2026

During an episode of “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast,” Prewett recalled having her “virgin card” when she experienced “a long journey and battle for me with porn and masturbation.”

The former reality star felt like she was “living this double life of living in constant secret sin, secret sexual sin and not confessing it to anybody,” she added.

March 2026

When reflecting on her purity journey, Prewett explained during an episode of “The Candace Cameron Bure” podcast how she and husband Troutt waited until marriage to have sex.

“Grant and I made the rule, we’re not allowed to lay on the couch. It even got to the point where it was like, I don’t even think we can be alone past 9 p.m.,” she said. “You just have to put the boundaries in place, knowing your temptation triggers and the things that would typically cause you to fall into that sin.”
