“When a movie is good, it takes you someplace — and Gino is going to take us someplace, too,” said Eric Roberts, who plays Area 51 expert Thom in the newly released indie feature “Lumina.” “This young man, Gino — yeah, he’s special.” The sci-fi horror comedy “Lumina,” directed by Gino McKoy, is now available for streaming and purchase on major platforms, including Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Google Play.

Starring Rupert Lazarus (“Requiem”), Eleanor Williams, and Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts (“The Dark Knight,” “The Expendables”), “Lumina” follows Alex (Lazarus), whose girlfriend Tatiana (Williams) mysteriously vanishes in a flash of light. Determined to find her, Alex and his friends embark on a journey from Los Angeles into the desert, where they uncover the dark secrets of a Deep Underground Military Base (DUMB). What begins as a search for answers quickly turns into a fight for survival as they encounter sinister forces, government conspiracies, and otherworldly beings.

The film from Goldove Entertainment, which blends science fiction, horror, and dark comedy, has generated buzz since its theatrical debut last year. Also featured are Andrea Tivadar (“Warrior Nun”), Sidney Nicole Rogers (“V/H/S” miniseries), Emily Hall (“Loot”), and Ken Lawson (“In the Cut”).

McKoy, making his feature film directorial debut, delivers a mind-bending and emotional cinematic experience. A film that defied all odds while shooting through the covid pandemic and overcoming insurmountable obstacles to debut in theaters in 2024.

“With ‘Lumina‘, I wanted to push the boundaries of sci-fi, comedy & horror while bringing audiences into a world where the unknown isn’t just lurking in the shadows — it’s right in front of us,” said McKoy. “This film is an intense, emotional journey that challenges everything we think we know about reality, love, survival and government conspiracies. I’m thrilled that fans can now experience ‘Lumina’ on major platforms, and I can’t wait to hear what they uncover along the way.”

The film debuted in theaters last year, gaining attention at Monsterpalooza and New York Comic Con, where the cast made appearances, and quickly developed a cult following. Now, audiences can experience the thrills, twists, and intergalactic terror from the comfort of their own homes.
