Kate Gosselin is giving fans a positive update on her recovery process after she sustained a serious leg injury earlier this year.
“It’s walking day!” Gosselin, 50, said in a TikTok video uploaded on Saturday, December 20. “I’m on my way to my appointment now. It’s the day that I can walk, it finally came. I’m so excited I can’t even stand it.”
Back in September, Gosselin suffered a “life altering” injury resulting in the former reality star fracturing her tibial plateau. Gosselin had to undergo surgery and stay off her bad leg for “82 days.”
In the video, Gosselin could be seen entering her doctor’s office on crutches. The clip then segwayed into Gosselin waiting in a patient room after learning her X-ray results looked “good.” Gosselin also showed off her “skinny, little girl leg” that she has been unable to use for months.
Gosselin revealed that her doctor confirmed the good news — she is now able to start walking again.
“The answer is yes. I’m allowed to walk. I have to start at 25 percent, then 50 percent, then 75 percent, 100 percent,” she explained. “So you won’t see me really walking immediately, but I’m excited.”
After getting the positive news, Gosselin headed to physical therapy to start relearning how to walk. She shared a series of clips of her taking steps using both her legs.
“I’m walking!” she told the camera as she used a handrail to slowly move forward. “This is gonna take longer than I thought.”
Following her appointment, Gosselin shared her plan for the next phase of her recovery.
“So there you have it,” she said. “We’re packing and leaving to go home and I will [be] doing a little weight bearing here and there like you saw me and increasing by the day.”
Three months ago, Gosselin shared a post from a hospital bed asking for prayers. In a subsequent post, Gosselin shared that she hurt herself after her puppy, Meika, ran to her at “full-speed.”
“I remember thinking, ‘I only have a second to get out of the way.’ I went to step and I miscalculated and I stepped the wrong way into her path and she slammed the side of her body full force into my leg,” she recalled in an October video.
Since the accident, Gosselin has been giving fans a glimpse at how she’s been coping amid her health issue.
“I just wanted to give you a quick update that my first night at home was amazing, and it’s all sinking in how helpless I am,” Gosselin said in a subsequent clip. “It’s making me think back to over what 21 years ago, when I was on bed rest.”
The Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum was referring to her pregnancy with sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Aaden, Collin and Joel, now 21, whom she welcomed with ex-husband Jon Gosselin. The exes also share twins Mady and Cara, 24. Jon and Kate rose to fame in the early 2000s after they were featured on two Discovery Health specials before the family got their own reality series, Jon and & Kate Plus 8. Following Jon and Kate’s divorce in 2009, the show changed its name to Kate Plus 8 as it focused on Kate’s life post-split.
