A traditional wedding might not be in the cards for Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando.
“Miley is really happy right now and in such a good, calm place,” a source tells Luxury Handbag Shopping exclusively. “She’s not super into the idea of doing another wedding.”
Both Cyrus, 33, and Morando, 27, will “definitely celebrate in their own way,” the insider adds. The “very low-key” couple are hoping to do “something fun and meaningful that feels very special to them.”
Cyrus is more focused on the “love” than the “whole production” of a wedding at this point in her life, the source explains.
“They have talked about eloping and doing something very private with just the two of them,” the insider continues. “She is embracing this era being engaged and is not in a rush to plan anything.”
The source explains that even though Cyrus’ first wedding to ex-husband Liam Hemsworth was on the “low-key” side, “she doesn’t necessarily want to be a ‘bride’ again or do anything traditional.” (Cyrus was married to Hemsworth for eight months before they separated in August 2019.)
“Miley loves that this chapter of her life has been more private,” the source says.
Cyrus started dating Morando in 2021 after they met on a blind date. They were together for four years before Morando proposed early last month.
“The detail that I can share is that for us, our privacy and us kind of keeping it small has been something that I’ve been astounded that I’ve actually been able to have and being able to kind of have more choice,” Cyrus told People of her relationship in an interview published on December 2. “I think it’s also being older, being more protective of what I’m open to sharing.”
Cyrus and Morando are still enjoying their engagement bliss as they gear up for their first Christmas as fiancés. The couple are “spending time” with her mom, Tish Cyrus, in Malibu for the holidays, the same source tells Us.
They “want to just relax and enjoy being together,” the insider adds. “She is really soaking in this chapter and feeling grateful for how everything’s lining up.”
After a year filled with family drama, “tension that used to hang over the family has definitely cooled off,” the source shares, telling Us that while Miley and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, “are not as close as they once were,” they are “on pretty fine terms.”
“Miley has been focused on her music and just living life on her own terms,” the insider continues. “Everyone seems to be doing their own thing right now, giving each other space, and that distance has helped bring a calmer dynamic overall.”
Earlier this month, Billy Ray took to social media with a sweet message for his daughter after the engagement news.
“No wonder you turned out so special, you have the greatest godmother in the world!!!” he captioned a December 3 Instagram photo with Miley alongside Dolly Parton. “So happy you and MaxxAgazillion found each other!!!! Congratulations!”
He added, “Happy to see you both so happy!!! Love, Dad.”
