Hilary Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, hit back at an online troll who criticized his wife.
Taking to a Tuesday, April 15, Instagram carousel shared by Duff, 37, that showed her posing for the camera in three separate frames, Koma, also 37, took issue with a follower who speculated that Duff had undergone cosmetic work on her face.
“Why did she do Botox, I swear to god everyone else is the same,” the troll wrote, prompting Koma to respond with, “Get f**d, butterfly.”
The remark left by Koma, who married the Lizzie McGuire alum in 2019, drew plenty of fan support, attracting 49 Likes within six hours. One fan even commented, “@matthewkoma second that. Tell your wife hello from a fan.”
Outside of the troll’s remark, Duff’s carousel was met with a stream of praise. Delighting fans with a daffodil-hued ensemble complemented with flawless make-up and effortlessly tousled locks, Duff looked radiant in the photos. “@matthewkoma this pic gotta be in your wallet,” wrote one follower, while another commented, “The perfect spring look.”
Boy Meets World alum Danielle Fishel commented, “So beautiful!”
Duff and Koma, who is also a musician, share three daughters, Banks, 6, Mae, 4, and Townes, 10 months. Duff also shares 13-year-old son Luca with ex-husband Mike Comrie. In December 2024, Duff told Luxury Handbag Shopping that she and Koma have had to adapt to a full house.
“The one great thing about Matt and me is sometimes I think we don’t feel old enough to have all these responsibilities. We’re both the same age. We’re 37, and we don’t know how to keep up,” Duff exclusively told Us at the time. “It’s just our feet are constantly going. Maybe we’re on a moving sidewalk or something, I don’t know.”
The “So Yesterday” singer added that she and Koma “do a really good dance” to ensure their household maintains a sense of order. “Whenever there’s a need in the house, he acts like a really good assistant because he knows me,” she told Us.
Koma met Duff while collaborating on her 2015 album Breathe In. Breathe Out. On the first anniversary of the pair’s engagement, Duff paid tribute to her supportive spouse via Instagram. “I will always choose sandwiches and 8 p.m. bedtimes over fancy date nights …. over and over again,” Duff wrote in May 2020. “My best friend, lover, and papa bear that can not be rivaled… it’s always been you.”
Koma, who received a lifetime ban from Twitter in 2023, has never been afraid to voice his opinions, most recently taking a stand against Kanye West and the rapper’s antisemitic comments. “Hey I can make a shirt too – link in bio,” Koma wrote via Instagram on February 10, alongside a photo of a white T-shirt that read “F*** Ye,” which nodded to West’s own swastika-emblazoned T-shirt design.
