“A little work then back to normal,” he wrote via his Instagram Story on Sunday from Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital.

This isn’t the first time Champion has detailed his health scares. In October 2024, the meteorologist opened up to viewers about his battle with skin cancer.

At the time, Champion underwent surgery to remove his basal cell carcinoma. The extremely common type of cancer affects more than 2 million people every year, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.

“There have been so many advancements in sun protection, sunscreen and laser treatments for precancerous areas, so I hope, one day, no one has to go through surgery to get rid of skin cancer,” he said on Good Morning America at the time. “Right now, we have to keep our eye on our skin, our hands on our skin, be very vigilant and notice any unusual spots, and if those spots start to change, immediately get care.”

Despite his history with skin cancer, Champion tries to live life to the fullest and have some fun in the sun. These days, however, he’s just a bit more careful with sun protection.

“Thank you @rubemrobierb for showing us the many wonders of your stunning homeland #Brazil,💛” Champion wrote via Instagram on March 8 after a trip to Rio de Janeiro.
