During an interview with SiriusXM podcast host Alex Cooper, Gayle King proved she’s no stranger to the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.
While talking with CBS News, Cooper, who King called a “badass,” discussed her latest venture with SiriusXM and her Unwell Network. She was also asked about her favorite sex position.
During the February 11 interview, Cooper, 30, was caught off guard when King, 70, asked her what her favorite sex position with her husband Matt Kaplan, 40, is after being married for almost one year.
Cooper and Kaplan will celebrate their one-year anniversary on April 6.
“Oh my God Gayle, are we allowed to talk about that?” Cooper gasped as she laughed herself to tears while talking with the longtime anchor.
As King’s co-anchors, Nate Burleson and Tony Dokoupil laughed in response as well, they admitted that their producers said “no” they aren’t allowed to answer that question but King was trying to prove a point.
“I’m making a point [that this] is what Alex does on her show [with her guests],” King continued.
“[Cooper] got Katy Perry to talk about her love language, she got Hailey Bieber to talk about her favorite sex position, Simone Biles about her mental health… Gwyneth Paltrow compared her exes. I’m amazed,” King continued, praising Cooper for her past interviews with some of the world’s biggest stars.
“What amazes me about you is that we’re sitting there in those hooded sweatshirts, which makes everyone comfortable, you ask these raunchy questions sprinkled in with a lot of smart too.”
Cooper, who appreciated King’s compliment, admitted that while she does often asked the “crazier” question one might not be able to ask on CBS News, there is a lot that goes into prepping for her interviews, adding that she’ll never ask the raunchy question right off the bat but that she creates a “rapport” first.
“I’m asking [celebrities], it is a question we want to know, but it’s asked in the appropriate way at the right time. I’m reading the room. I’m being self-aware.”
And it’s something Cooper said she takes pride in it because she does believe it gets rid of some of the shame women feel.
