Elon Musk is planning on seeking full custody of his and Ashley St. Clair’s son after she publicly supported the rights of trans people.

“I will be filing for full custody today, given her statements implying she might transition a one-year-old boy,” Musk, 54, claimed via X on Monday January 12, in a reply to a user who shared their thoughts that the tech CEO should seek custody after St. Clair, 27, revealed that she changed her stance on the transgender community.

On Sunday, January 11, St. Clair was asked by an X user about her transphobic remarks in the past, at which point the influencer shared her remorse for her past beliefs.

“I feel immense guilt for my role. And even more guilt that things I have said in the past may have caused my son’s sister more pain,” she tweeted, referring to Musk’s daughter, Vivian Wilson, who publicly came out as trans in 2020.

“Idrk how to make amends for many of these things but I have been trying incredibly hard privately to learn + advocate for those within the trans community that I’ve hurt,” she continued.

St. Clair also explained why she hasn’t publicly spoken up about her new stance on the issue until now.

“I also haven’t said much on this bc I have gone back and forth over whether my voice would be helpful on the issue since it will be framed as disingenuous or just turning bc I’m ‘scorned,’” she continued. “Even this reply will become right wing hysteria but yeah I am sorry. Let me know how I can help.”

St. Clair did not publicly say anything about “transitioning” a child. Musk, the richest man in the world, is known for his staunch anti-trans views. (Studies show that when a trans child is able to receive gender-affirming care they are at a lower risk of mental health issues and suicidal ideation.)

In February 2025, St. Clair announced that Musk was the father of her baby boy, Romulus, the Tesla founder’s 13th child. Elon previously welcomed six kids with his ex-wife, Justine Musk, three with musician Grimes and four with technology executive Shivon Zillis.

“Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father,” St. Clair wrote via X. “I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause.”

The following month, Elon addressed St. Clair’s paternity claims.

“I don’t know if the child is mine or not but am not against finding out. No court order is needed,” he wrote via X. He then claimed, “Despite not knowing for sure, I have given Ashley $2.5M and am sending her $500K/year.”

St. Clair subsequently responded to Elon’s remarks, alleging he did not want to take a paternity test.

“Elon, we asked you to confirm paternity through a test before our child (who you named) was even born. You refused,” she alleged at the time. “And you weren’t sending *me* money, you were sending support for your child that you thought was necessary … until you withdrew most of it to maintain control and punish me for ‘disobedience.’ But you’re really only punishing your son.”

St. Clair has become outspoken against Elon in recent months. She recently slammed X’s AI technology Grok after it created inappropriate images of her.

“I got a text from a friend, right after I put my son to sleep, so I was like, ‘Oh my God, what could this be now?’ And I found that Grok was undressing me and it had taken a fully clothed photo of me. Someone asked it to put me in a bikini and it did,” she said during a January appearance on Inside Edition. These are real images of me that they then took and had them undress me. So, they found a photo of me when I was 14 years old and had Grok undress 14-year-old me and put me in a bikini.”

While Elon did not address St. Clair’s remarks about Grok, he took to social media to reiterate the X’s policy about the issue.

“Anyone using Grok to make illegal content will suffer the same consequences as if they upload illegal content,” he tweeted.
