Jeff Webb was a loving husband and father before his tragic death.
Jeff was married to wife Gina Webb, and the couple shared son Jeffrey and daughter Caroline. The businessman found success working in the cheerleading realm as he founded the Universal Cheerleading Association, Varsity Spirit and Varsity Brands. Jeff was also a mentor to late political commentator Charlie Kirk, who died in September 2025.
News broke in March 2026 that Jeff died after falling and sustaining a traumatic head injury while playing pickleball, per Cheer Daily. He was hospitalized for the injuries before his family made the tough decision to take him off of life support. Varsity Sport later confirmed Jeff’s death.
“Jeff played a pivotal role in shaping cheerleading as it exists today and in building a community that has impacted generations of athletes, coaches and teams,” read a statement from the organization. “In recent years, his contributions helped grow the sport both in the United States and globally, including his work with the International Cheer Union, which achieved full recognition by the International Olympic Committee in 2021. We extend our condolences to Jeff’s family and loved ones, and to the many across the spirit community who were influenced by his work.”
Jeff’s children later shared a statement following his passing.
“Our father was, at his core, a man of inexhaustible energy, and he poured that energy into everything he did, from revolutionizing cheerleading to his never-ending — and constantly growing — list of activities,” Jeff’s children said, per the Los Angeles Times. “He brought that same spirit of dedication and encouragement to being a father and grandfather.”
The statement continued, “To most people he is a legendary entrepreneur — to us, he was our soccer coach and on-demand comedian, our mentor and father-daughter dance partner, our solace and our source of strength. He taught us by example that a life well lived contains balance, that seriousness and silliness are not in fact opposites, that focus and discipline do not and should not preclude care and kindness.”
