Diddy Files $100 Million Defamation Lawsuit After Lawyer ‘Broadcast Outrageous Lies’ About Rapper

Sean “Diddy” Combs and his legal team are suing a TV network and two individuals for defamation.

According to court documents obtained by Luxury Handbag Shopping on Monday, August 11, Diddy, 55, is accusing Courtney Burgess, his attorney Ariel Mitchell and Nexstar Media Inc. of fabricating and broadcasting “outrageous lies concerning Mr. Combs.”

Diddy’s team claims via the documents that the aforementioned worked to “leverage those falsehoods to enrich themselves, gain social media fame, promote their brands, strip Mr. Combs of his reputation and jeopardize his right to a fair trial,” adding that Burgess and Mitchell fueled a “media frenzy” for over a year after “stirring up baseless speculation” about the rap mogul.

The lawsuit also slams NewsNation, owned by Nexstar Media Inc., for allegedly giving the two other defendants “a mainstream media platform to malign [Diddy] for [their] collective profit.”

“Burgess falsely claimed that he possessed videos of Mr. Combs involved in the sexual assault of celebrities and minors,” the lawsuit claimed. “NewsNation recklessly repeated and amplified his lies as if they were true, even though NewsNation was aware that what he was spewing was probably false.”

Diddy’s lawsuit also claims that Mitchell knew that her client’s claims were false “or at a minimum was utterly reckless.”

“Together, Burgess, Mitchell and NewsNation have caused profound reputational and economic injury and severe prejudice to Mr. Combs,” the lawsuit states.

Diddy and his legal team are suing for $100 million and demanding a jury trial. Luxury Handbag Shopping has reached out to Mitchell and Nexstar Media Inc. for comment on the lawsuit.

According to NewsNation, Burgess testified before a federal grand jury on October 31 after being contacted by agents from the Department of Replica Luxury Handbagland Security.

After testifying, Burgess appeared on NewsNation’s Banfield with his attorney and alleged that he was given 11 flash drives that may hold evidence against the rap mogul.

In September, Diddy was arrested and indicted on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and has consistently denied all allegations.

Ten months later, the rapper was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, but he was acquitted on the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

“Sean Combs has not sexually assaulted anybody, I’ve been saying this for months,” Diddy’s attorney, Teny Geragos, told reporters after the verdict. “We’ve said this with each lawsuit that came out, and today that was proven true.”

Marc Agnifilo, who has also been one of Diddy’s attorneys, added, “Today’s a great victory. It’s a great victory for Sean Combs, it’s a great victory for the jury system. We are not nearly done fighting. We are just getting started.”
