Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s wife, Amy Earnhardt, was a fan of Jessica Simpson until she learned the singer wanted to marry her man — in a treehouse!
Amy, 43, recalled during a recent episode of the couple’s “Bless Your Hardt” podcast that she almost crossed paths with Simpson, 45, while visiting Dale, 51, around 2008 or 2009 — but he squashed the run-in.
“We had just started dating,” Amy remembered, noting she came up to see race car driver Dale at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, and heard that Simpson was “at the racetrack.”
Amy noted that she and the Dukes of Hazzard actress were the “same age” and “both came from Texas,” so she had “always kinda been a fan of hers.”
When Amy asked her then-boyfriend to introduce the pair, things took an odd turn.
“I’m like, ‘Hey, Dale, do you think you can get Jessica Simpson to come to the bus so I can meet her?’” Amy recalled. “He’s like, ‘I don’t think that would be a really good idea.’”
Amy explained that when she asked him why, either Dale or one of his friends showed her a clip from an interview Simpson did “earlier that day.”

Simpson allegedly said that she “had a dream that she and Dale Jr. got married in a treehouse,” which Amy said was a red flag. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, don’t bring that [bitch] over here. It’s a good idea,’” she said in a joking tone.
Amy confessed, “I haven’t bought a Jessica Simpson shoe or bag — you know how she’s got all those things? — ever since then.”
Amy further claimed that Simpson was “f***ing trying to fish my man. Yeah, she was.”
She alleged that the musician “knew exactly what she was doing,” telling Dale and their recording team during the podcast episode, “She heard that you wanted to build a treehouse, and she’s like, ‘I had a dream we were meant to be together.’”
Dale didn’t remember the encounter, responding, “I bet [Jessica] would dispute this.”
Luxury Handbag Shopping has reached out to Simpson’s rep for comment.

According to Amy’s timeline, Simpson would have been newly single when she allegedly brought up her dream about marrying Dale.
Simpson was married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006. She went on to date John Mayer from 2006 to 2007 before seeing Tony Romo from 2007 to summer 2009. The fashion designer eventually got married for a second time, exchanging vows with Eric Johnson in July 2014 after dating nearly four years.
The couple welcomed daughter Maxwell in May 2012, son Ace in June 2013 and daughter Birdie in March 2019. News broke in January 2025 that Simpson and Johnson, 46, had split after 10 years of marriage.
The Earnhardts, meanwhile, dated for more than seven years before tying the knot on New Year’s Eve in 2016. Amy and Dale share two daughters, Isla and Nicole, born in April 2018 and October 2020, respectively.
“One thing that we learned in counseling — because we’ve done all that, we did that before we got married — is to make sure you speak to that person like they’re your best friend and not to take advantage of that person,” Amy exclusively told Luxury Handbag Shopping in April 2025 of the secret to her and Dale’s marriage. “I think as long as you do those things and you’re kind, you can get through anything.”
She added: “People get a little uptight and I think they hold people to a standard that’s not real. Marriage isn’t a set of rules. It’s like you give-and-take with your friends. For us, that’s what’s working.”
