Chris Noth hasn’t held back his thoughts about his time on Sex and the City and his former costars over the years.
Noth starred on the HBO series as Mr Big, a love interest for main character Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker. Noth appeared on all six seasons of the series, which ran from 1998 to 2004, and the subsequent film adaptations, Sex and the City: The Movie and Sex and the City 2.
In 2021, SATC was revived with a new spinoff series titled And Just Like That. Parker returned to the show alongside Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte). Noth made a cameo in the first episode but was dramatically killed off.
Noth was initially supposed to have a bigger arc on the show but story lines were altered when the actor was accused of sexual misconduct from multiple women ahead of AJLT’s premiere. Noth has denied the allegations and claimed the sexual acts were consensual. Parker, Nixon and Davis spoke out against him and stood behind the alleged victims.
“We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth,” the women’s social media statement read in December 2021. “We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.”

Chris Noth Jokes Carrie Was a ‘Whore’
On Sex and the City, Carrie and Big had an on-and-off relationship before getting married in the film adaptation. When Carrie wasn’t seeing Big, she had other suitors pursuing her affections. During an October 2014 interview with Australian outlet News.com, Chris Noth broached the subject of the character’s dynamics.
“Big was powerful because he had a lot of money and he seemed to have the upper hand in the relationship, but emotionally he was a wreck,” he said. “Actually, no — he was what he was. One of the things I tell people is that he never tried to pretend he was anything other than what he was.”
From his perspective, Noth thought that Carrie “tried to pretend [Big] was something he wasn’t.”
“[Big] was always honest about himself — he never cheated on her,” he explained. “The relationship just didn’t work, and he went on to get married while she went on to … how many boyfriends did she have? She was such a whore! There’s a misconception that Carrie was a victim of him, and that’s not the case — she was a strong, smart woman.”
Chris Noth Wasn’t Thrilled With Sex and the City’s Popularity
Chris Noth admitted that he wasn’t excited about how much of a hit Sex and the City was when it premiered.
“Initially, when the show became a cultural phenomenon, I was really annoyed by it, because I don’t like to be called a character’s name on the street and actors don’t like [characters] sticking to them,” he said to The Guardian in December 2021. “But eventually I thought: ‘Just stop resisting this because it’s not going away. People, for some reason, will always relate you to that part, so just let what you resist persist.’ And if I can be a small part of what people think of as New York City, that’s a really lovely thing.”

Before agreeing to appear on And Just Like That, Noth admitted that he was on the fence about playing Big again.
“It was a little bit of a sort of creative negotiation because I didn’t really feel I had anything to offer in that role again,” he told Yahoo Finance in June 2021. “It kind of felt like I had done it, but [executive producer] Michael Patrick King is just an incredible writer and has incredible, creative ideas, and once we got together and talked about the potential of what we could do with the character, I was all in.”

When filming Sex and the City, Chris Noth and Sarah Jessica Parker were close friends. When Parker and former costar Kim Cattrall started feuding, Noth came to Parker’s defense.
“I have absolutely no idea what [Kim] thinking is, or her emotions. I do know that I’m very close with SJ and [Cattrall’s] descriptions of her don’t even come close,” he told The Guardian in December 2021.” I liked her, I thought she was marvelous in the show and some people move on for their own reasons. I don’t know what hers were. I just wish that whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable.”

After Chris Noth came to Sarah Jessica Parker’s defense, news broke that the actor had been accused of sexual misconduct. While Noth denied the allegations, Parker subsequently stood by the alleged victims. Noth later shared that he was upset that Parker didn’t even ask him for his side of the story.
“The statement that they put out — which was nothing more than brand management, really — I don’t know, it was sad, it was disappointing, it was surprising,” he said during a January 2026 appearance on the “Really Famous With Kara Mayer Robinson” podcast. “Because you need to call me and hear my side of this. Noth and Parker had a falling out following his scandal. In January 2026, Noth made headlines after he agreed with a shady social media comment about Parker that read, “You mean f*** sjp & her award right? Lol.”
Noth later addressed his social media actions calling the interaction “sarcastic.”
“My off the cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot. It is not news,” he wrote via Instagram days later. “It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.”
Chris Noth Is Happy With His ‘And Just Like That’ Outcome
During a February 2026 appearance at the Blue Jacket Fashion Show in New York City, Noth told the Daily Mail he felt “very good” about his limited time on the spinoff.
“I think I was very lucky,” he quipped,
