Cher‘s son Elijah Blue Allman has been hospitalized following a reported drug overdose.

Allman, 48, overdosed on the morning of Saturday, June 14, in Joshua Tree, California, and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, TMZ reported on Sunday, June 15.

Sources with knowledge of the situation told the outlet that “Cher’s only concern right now is for her son’s well-being, and she’s doing everything she can to get him the help he needs.”

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department tells Luxury Handbag Shopping that its deputies had “responded to a residence in Landers for a male subject acting erratically” on Saturday at approximately 1:25 p.m. The statement continued, “When deputies arrived, Elijah Allman, 48, was being evaluated by emergency medical personnel. Deputies located drugs inside the home, and Allman was transported to the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.”

Luxury Handbag Shopping has reached out to representatives for Cher for comment.

Elijah, whom Cher shares with the late Gregg Allman, has been open about his drug use in the past. In a 2014 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he revealed he began using drugs as a young child.

“I started with drugs around the same time that we all did, around 11,” the then-37-year-old musician and artist confessed, noting that he first experimented with weed and ecstasy before he moved on to other substances. “I mean, it’s just what you did, it’s just what everybody did.”

“I [was] just looking to escape all the things in my past, and that’s when you turn to those kind of drugs, you know, heroin and opiates,” he explained to the outlet at the time. “[Heroin] kind of saved me…If I didn’t have that at that point, I don’t know what I would have done…You may jump off a bridge. If you can just go through that time period and live through it and then get help…”

Elijah also admitted that at times things were dangerous.

“I did have some close calls and some moments of really feeling at the edge of mortality,” he explained. “I always kind of kept it a little bit safe, but you never can do that.”

He continued, “Even though you think that in your mind, of course the wrong things can happen. The wrong combination of things can happen, and you can just slip in to the abyss. I knew it was wrong, and I knew that I was very unsatisfied with life at that point.”

Elijah and his wife, Marieangela King Allman, called it quits this April after one year of marriage in April. According to court documents obtained by Luxury Handbag Shopping at the time, Marieangela filed for divorce in Los Angeles.

The pair do not have children, and Marieangela is requesting exclusive use of the couple’s residence and their vehicle, a 2017 Toyota Prius V.
