BOYNEXTDOOR are turning up the volume – and the spice – with a collaboration that blends music, confidence and cultural heat.
The K-pop’s free spirits recently teamed up with Korean spicy noodle brand Buldak for an unexpected partnership centered on a reimagined version of their hit song “Earth, Wind & Fire,” giving the fan-favorite track a bold new edge for 2026.
The fiery remix – “Earth, Wind & Fire (Hotter Than My EX Ver.)” – trades lovestruck longing for humor and self-assurance, reframing the original bop into a playful anthem about independence, post-breakup glow-ups and unapologetic confidence. Rather than dwelling on what didn’t work, BOYNEXTDOOR lean into the idea that moving on – and moving forward – can be its own kind of celebration.
That attitude is where Buldak naturally enters the picture. Known for its famously spicy noodles and viral popularity among Gen Z fans, the brand is woven into the song as a symbol of heat, intensity and fearlessness rather than a traditional product placement. The pairing feels intuitive, matching BOYNEXTDOOR’s bold, expressive energy with a brand that has built its reputation on turning up the heat.

“BOYNEXTDOOR and Buldak share the same fearless spirit,” said Youngsik Shin, CEO of Samyang America. “Their confidence, creativity and energy make them a perfect match.”
The collaboration launched during Valentine’s season, but quickly stood out for pushing beyond the holiday’s usual themes. Instead of centering romance, the remix embraced self-worth, humor and the freedom to celebrate yourself – a message that resonated strongly with younger audiences increasingly redefining what moments like Valentine’s Day look like.
While the remix anchored the partnership, it also served as the centerpiece of Buldak’s larger “Hotter Than My Ex” campaign, which launched during Valentine’s Day with social-first fan moments and limited-time product drops. Fans were able to extend the campaign’s energy with special “Hotter Than My Ex” Buldak Original Big Bowls, available through February at Walmart, H Mart and TikTok Shop for $2.77 each, designed for sharing with friends – or enjoying solo.
More than a one-off release, the collaboration feels like a snapshot of where pop culture is headed. Less pressure, perfection and fitting in, and more personality, originality and a ton of spice.
