TikToker Nurul Athira Auni Mohamad Hafizzan has died in a motorcycle accident. She was 21.
Local outlets Sinar Daily, Sinar Harian and New Straits Times reported that authorities believe the content creator — who used the name Athira Auni online — was driving in the right lane when another motorcycle crashed into her from behind after swerving to try to avoid her vehicle.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 3. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The other motorcyclist faced injuries on his hands, elbows and thighs and received medical care at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital.
Local outlets reported that Auni’s body was transported to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The case is under investigation for potential reckless or dangerous driving leading to death.
Auni had more than 77,000 followers on a TikTok account, which has since been deleted. While known for her livestreams, Auni also posted videos of her flipping Indian flatbread roti canai at her dad’s food stall.
After her death, Auni’s friend shared a black-and-white video of the influencer working at her father’s food stall on Friday, January 2 — one day before her death.
“On Friday, you asked me to record a video of you spreading roti canai for the last time, as if you already knew that night you were going to go make it,” a translated caption read, shared by the user @nauraa_517 on TikTok.
Fans shared their condolences in the comments section.
“Even though I don’t know you, I feel so lost 🥺😔,” one user wrote in a translated message, while another translated comment read, “She’s beautiful, she’s a good person who spreads roti canai, she’s kind, she’s friendly, she’s an angel from heaven 🤲🏻.”
A third added in a translated comment, “Oh my God, I’m just a friend on TikTok, but why does this angel’s departure feel so real to me? May Auni rest in peace somewhere. I swear I cried like crazy today when I found out you were gone. I swear I can’t believe it 😭😭❤️.”
Auni’s friend also shared a TikTok video from her burial, which received several comments from users.
“We still can’t believe that Auni is gone 😞,” one user wrote in a translated comment, while another translated message read, “My condolences to Auni’s family, I’m so sorry I just found out.”
Auni’s death occurred one day before influencer Yulia Burtseva died at age 38 after undergoing cosmetic surgery. According to Russian news outlet MSK1, Burtseva underwent a cosmetic surgery at a private clinic in Moscow on Sunday, January 4. After her condition got worse, she was rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
The Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Moscow opened a criminal case to investigate potential negligence charges, MSK1 reported and cited the Moscow Investigative Committee.
“Investigators from the Moscow Investigative Committee are working at the scene,” a translated statement by the Moscow Investigative Committee and obtained by MSK1 read. “Necessary official and medical records will be seized shortly. A number of forensic examinations, including a medical one, are being ordered.”
The morning of her surgery, Burtseva reportedly shared a video to VK – a Russian social media platform — from a coffee shop in Moscow. Translated text over the clip read, “Good morning Moscow.”
