Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg knows when a guest is into her — and she thinks Matt Healy was one of them.
In an interview with The Sunday Times published Sunday, April 20, Dimoldenberg reflected on when the 1975 lead singer tried to kiss her at the end of their date, which premiered in October 2022.
“He was definitely down to kiss me,” she told the outlet, but noted she kissed Healy on the forehead instead. (Dimoldenberg added that, at the time, Healy hesitated a bit because he had just smoked a cigarette, which gave her the room to dial everything down a bit.)
It turns out Dimoldenberg isn’t especially interested in dating right now, despite evidence to the contrary (like the premise of her show). “I’ve got my whole life to be settling down with someone. My life is very fast-paced. I’m going travelling, I’m working away, I’m doing all these different things,” she explained. “I feel like I’m really glad to be single at this moment.”
When asked if Chicken Shop Date could get in the way of her actual love life, Dimoldenberg answered that it “depends.”
“Obviously, the guys who I’m dating need to be confident in themselves for many different reasons,” she answered. “I also just feel like maybe my working gets in the way of dating more broadly. I definitely want to create space in my life to meet someone but, at the same time, I don’t want it to be the focus of everything.”
Instead of focusing on a relationship, Dimoldenberg is focusing on her career. At present she is developing two projects: a drama she penned herself and a romantic comedy movie where she plays herself. She’s also interested in “playing versions of myself, or in comedic roles.” She told The Times, “I don’t necessarily at this point have an ambition to do a dramatic reading of Shakespeare.”
When it comes to public appearances, Dimoldenberg admitted that she experiences bouts of issues with self-esteem.
“The self-confidence thing, in terms of body image, is hard when you’re having to have your photo taken, and you’re literally on a line-up next to professional models, for example,” she explained.

“I’ve tried to get her on for years and now it’s happening, so I’m really excited,” she explained. Despite the popularity of her show, Dimoldenberg adds that she’s picky about who she invites on the show — and hopes that one day Harry Styles, Beyoncé, Timothée Chalamet, and Kendrick Lamar will all show up.
