Alicia Crowder is sharing when the Tell Me Lies cast found out the show was ending and how difficult it was to keep it a secret.
“We probably found out maybe one or two weeks before. I was sad,” she exclusively told Luxury Handbag Shopping at Actors Rising presented by The Actor Awards and ELLE on Thursday, February 26. “I’m gonna miss coming to set and being with all my friends. I’m so proud of the story that we were able to tell, and I’m really happy with how it all turned out.”
Crowder, 28, admitted it was “hard” not to tell her family or friends that the show was abruptly ending, but she feared it would get leaked to the public.
Fans were crushed when the show’s creator, Meaghan Oppenheimer, confirmed on February 16 that the hit Hulu series would be concluding with its next-day finale after a record-breaking, three-season run.

“It’s so bittersweet,” Crowder, who played Diana, said. “It’s one of those amazing things that you never want to end. But I think the way that we were able to wrap everything up was incredible.”
The actress hadn’t seen the explosive finale until it aired on February 17.
“I was watching it with everyone else. I was so blown away,” she told Us. “We have such an amazing group of people. I feel so lucky to have been a part of it for so long.”
Crowder showed off her acting chops while playing Diana, starting out as the controlling girlfriend of Jackson White’s character Stephen DeMarco, who eventually untangled herself from his grip and jumped into a same-sex romance with Pippa (played by Sonia Mena).
“I got lucky because Diana in season one started off as kind of like the other woman. People didn’t really like her,” she explained. (Diana was involved in a messy love triangle between DeMarco and Lucy (Grace Van Patten).
“Then in season 2, with her relationship with Pippa and the elaborate ruse with Stephen, people really liked her. And that’s always a good feeling,” Crowder continued.
Her favorite Diana storyline, though, was when she found a healthy, loving partnership.
“I would say probably when she starts her relationship with Pippa. When you see how they come together. They have this really beautiful, intimate little bubble that they create. That was really sweet because the show was so toxic and crazy, and it was so nice to have that levity and love,” Crowder recalled.
The star said she was “happy” that Diana and Pippa walked away “unscathed” as a couple despite all the drama that happened during Bree (Catherine Missal) and Evan’s (Branden Cook) wedding.
Crowder also revealed her first thoughts when she discovered Bree was secretly in love with Evan’s best friend, Wrigley (Spencer House).
“I was like, ‘That is crazy,’ but expect the unexpected at all times with this show,” she laughed.
Now that the Tell Me Lies chapter is over, Crowder said she’s open to trying something new.
“I would love to do a horror movie or something kind of crazy and very outside of what I think I’ve been doing up until this point,” she told Us. “And I’m interested in producing. I’m working on a couple things, and trying to be as creative and as experimental as I can.”
